To give you an idea, I saw them live last May and they announced the album was finished.

 

I’m assuming we won’t know anything concrete until a second single randomly gets announced. Hopefully in the next few months?

 

Steve-O actually sat down and did an interview (first in 10 years?). He lives in Australia now? I still need to dig into this further. But at the 42:12 mark, he addresses why he left the band in 2013 - burnout, new kid, just unhappy at that point in time. He said he didn't play drums for eight years after that, aside from playing three shows with the Vandals.

Also, he was asked if he'd been contacted by the band to reunite for a show or two: Steve says he hasn't heard from the band about anything. The new album and final tour was news to him. Says none of it is really on his mind right now and there's no bad blood. He did say he wouldn't rule anything out regarding a one-off appearance, but it seems like it would take some serious conversation between him and the band based on his demeanor/tone on the subject imo

Interesting about Steve-O. I thought he was doing real estate in Southern California but I guess he's moved since then. We talk about the scene-to-real estate pipeline but there also seems to be a (North) American rocker to Australia/NZ pipeline (Bert from The Used, Serj from SOAD, etc). Wonder what the driving force behind it is.

 

The Madden Brothers were there for a bit too.

Still odd 2023 is almsot over and we have no album release date and no official tour info.

 

Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley Has Been on One Hell of a Ride

 

This is a really good read, he sheds light on a lot of things (even Steve's departure). Really puts into perspective how much shit Deryck has gone through

 

I didn't realize how bad things were for them commercially during the SBM era, as far as the sizes of shows they were playing and such. Kind of sad to hear, but glad things have turned around in recent years.

 

Seems related to album info as compared to a single, but maybe that's wishful thinking lol.

 

"From Heaven to Hell" reads like they're going to tease the first single from the Hell side of the double album too.

 

New song Rise Up is out on certain time zones.
