Great article. Can't believe it has been over 4 years since Hello Exile and finally here for the next one.

Does feel a bit quieter here than normal for a Menzingers release. I am a little bummed out at myself for not absolutely loving the first 3 songs. I think they're all good but not GREAT like how I've felt with the pre-released songs for the last 3 albums. Also think the entirely stacked October is playing a role as well.

Yeah I think Blink and Gaslight stole some of the hype of this one tbh

its kind of hard to get hyped up for releases when the bands put out a new song every 3 weeks. i am excited to hear the rest on friday, but nowhere near as excited i'd be if i didnt hear anything/have any idea what the direction of the album would be. my expectations are set and i am just looking forward to friday.

    same with gaslight.

    no comment on blink.

I just stopped listening after the first single. So hyped. Cannot believe it's been 4 years.

I will say the next two weeks are insanely stacked for the scene and this is definitely blending in with the rest of them. Free Throw, Creeper, Knuckle Puck, Gaslight, Taking Back Sunday and Blink all releasing albums within two weeks of each other. This is kind of falling behind Gaslight and Blink for me for obvious reasons. I’d be more excited for this album if so much music released in the same time frame. It feels like 2012 lol

None of the singles have blown me away. So while I’m always excited for new material from them, my expectations are just that it will be another solid album. That’s probably why my personal hype is tempered.

I find that I anticipate albums way differently now than I used to. I think back in the leak days, I was more in the “be in the album thread every day in case it happens to be out in the world.” Now, I don’t really spend much time talking or thinking about albums until they are actually out. Gaslight has been an exception this year, since I was so curious what they’d sound like after all that time away.

Same here. I’m very excited for this, but I’ll think about it when it gets here

It's one of many ways in which I think the end of leaks has actually hurt music and the dialogue around it.

Friday releases too don't help their cause either I feel like.

Tuesday releases were prime and didn’t get lost in the shuffle of the weekend

Yeah, I don’t like Friday releases. I feel like I either listen to new stuff on Thursday when it’s out in other parts of the world or I don’t get to it until Monday. Friday is always such a scramble to get stuff done.

I really do think that TGA has taken precedent for me and to be honest I love all the new TGA songs more than the first two menzingers singles but I adore come on heartache. Really excited for Friday. It’ll be good to have this album for two weeks before history books comes out

Nah waking up to a new album on a Friday is awesome, it’s like a Christmas present plus the weekend is starting.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

If I didn't WFH on Fridays, it would be much more of a struggle. But as of now, I essentially start the day by adding all of the new albums I want to listen to throughout the day into a playlist, then jam out the rest of the day. I love the ritual

Not complaining, but I'm surprised there's only been 3 songs released from this (so far), including one that was first played at festivals over the summer so it was already out there. A striking change from the norm right now.

if I wasn't constantly on and off the phone for work on Fridays I'd probably be fine with it lol I hate being interrupted on a first listen
