Yeah the videos I've seen on social media look insane. The band's commitment to the visual side of a live show is amazing.

Just checking in to say that ticket prices for the sphere are absolutely batshit insane, I feel like I should have just gotten them a couple of weeks ago when there were some around $250

they’ve doubled in price, same section I bought like a month ago are just about double now.

vegas is stupid expensive right now. u2, F1, wwwy, kylie minogue starting…there’s so much going on in the next month

Yeahhh once the videos/impressions started coming out the resale market went crazy. No surprise, will end up as one of the hottest tickets of the year not named Beyoncé/TSwift I’d say haha, which for the much maligned U2 is a pretty damn good “win” for them.

Anyways my shows are this upcoming weekend, can’t wait! And imagine the band has continued to dial in with the first initial run of shows.

I ended up getting section 109 row 21 tickets the other day and I’m glad I did because prices just keep going up for worse seats too

seats for the 100 level are going for less because of the overhang, you can’t look up and see the screen above you if you’re under the overhang. I believe they said the overhang is anything row 20 and above in the 100s.

Yeah I saw someone post a photo from basically where my seat is and it’s barely noticeable. The sphere thing is gonna be cool either way to me but I’m just here to see the band so anything else is gravy

I'm sure it wont be that bad, your view from the 100s to the stage will be amazing though!

just saw on a U2 forum, if you get there and the view is obstructed, go up to guest services and they’ll offer you 2 GA tickets.

seems like the Grammys thing has people thinking about the Songs of Innocence release strategy once again. I can't believe people still care about this after nearly a decade lol but it's nice to be reminded how good the second half of this album is. Raised by Wolves and This is Where... are some of their best post-Pop output

Random hot take à la 2009: I listened to No Line On The Horizon with the Linear tracklist and thought it was a much better album!

I vaguely remember hearing about the movie that accompanied the album having a different tracklist and possibly more / different songs back when it first came out, but I think I had trouble getting ahold of it without paying for it, and then I kinda just lost interest because that album never really worked for me. I've always thought it had a handful of good songs and then a few absolutely horrendous songs that I actively can't stand listening to.

I still skipped "Boots" this time around though - I will never purposely listen to that song again in my life. I wouldn't say it is radically different, but I do think it was the superior tracklist vs what they ultimately went with.

yeah the Linear tracklist rules. absolutely wild they took "Winter" out of the running for that album and kept fucking "Boots". this band's ability to shoot themselves in the foot is unparalleled

I'll have to try the Linear tracklist. My hot take is that No Line on the Horizon is actually really good and the tracks everyone hates are fine. The opening trio, especially, just rules.

in a perfect world "Magnificent" was the first single from No Line - damn that song rules

I'm a pretty big U2 apologist and there are 2 songs on that album that you couldn't pay me Bono's salary to listen to ever again.

You should try the Linear thing though. It's a really solid tracklist. I've always loved a bunch of songs from that album but never listen to the whole thing.

Yeah, that version of "Winter" is great. For many years I didn't realize it was radically different from the version in the movie "Brothers", and as such never sought it out, which was a big mistake.

    What's the other one? "Crazy"?

I will! For me, this kind of tracklist switch is kind of a double-edged sword. You might end up with better pacing, but you kind of spoil that dopamine rush of a really killer opening salvo. I've felt similarly when I've seen people try to reorder All That You Can't Leave Behind to make it a little less top heavy.

I will give you that the opening trio on NLOTH is absolutely killer. I know it's usually frowned upon to mess with tracklists, but this one piqued my interest because it seems like it's the one the band was going with up until the 11th hour, enough so that the director used it for the accompanying film. Plus, with them I feel like they often overcook their albums and don't know when to stop messing around and just release the damn thing.

Yeah, the songs I absolutely cannot stand are "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" & "Take Off Your Boots". I don't like "Stand Up Comedy" that much either, but it is not nearly as bad as the other two songs, I just don't love that one.

I love Crazy actually lol. maybe a little out of place on that album (at least if they'd actually followed through on the 'future hymns' idea of it for more than a few songs) but it's a fun, silly pop song. Bono doing Bono things

Boots and Comedy are just all-time bad U2 songs

They have definitely had a tendency to overcook their albums, but I think they usually get the track order right. I actually really love how top-heavy Joshua Tree and ATYCLB are. Gives you a huge rush up front, and then some treasures to discover later when you stop being blinded by how great side 1 is.

I actually like "Stand Up Comedy" a lot. Feels like a tossed off rock song, which they don't usually do. "Crazy" I really didn't like for awhile, but I've come back around on it a bit. Not my favorite by any means, but I don't skip it.

Its been a long time since I listened to Horizon, maybe I'll give it a spin today.
But my lasting memory of it is that the first 3 songs are killer, I like Crazy, and I hate Boots.
