I am an old man, it has nothing to do with “selling out”. The later albums sound better and they added some new shades to their palette on S/T. That doesn’t change the fact that they wrote some of their very best songs early on in their career.

 

Oh, also. I was at Disney yesterday and hit play on DWM at like 11pm. Video was great and song is killer. At the heart of blink is having fun and writing music for others to have fun with. This nailed that perfectly.

Great end to my day.

Also, a comedian I follow and have talked to before is in the video. Her name is Madison Sinclair. She is the nurse who grabs her boobs. I haven’t had the opportunity to see her stand up yet, but I love all the clips and stuff she posts.

Listened to Dogs Eating Dogs for the first time in awhile. I had forgotten about Pretty Little Girl, and first the first 3 minutes I was thinking it was pretty cool song, then I was quickly reminded of why it doesn’t work for me.

 

She’s so nice along with being funny. Sometime during 2020 or 2021 when she was on lockdown she did a thing where she called some of her followers. I ended up getting on of the calls and figured it’d be a few minutes of chit chat. But we talked for a half an hour about a bunch of stuff. She was just so chill and genuine in just wanting to chat with some fans.

 

I was 50/50 on DWM yesterday but today it's absolutely killing it for me. It's going to be such a fun live song. Mark's bass tone is absolute perfection throughout.

pretty amazing they wrote something as poignant and timeless as "carousel" very early in the band's life, tbh.

 

"Terrified" was actually my guess as to which one was the BCR one. That one person on Reddit who has heard the album said it's one of the only Tom songs (or something like that).

Forgot we had a small clip of that one.

 

I'm wondering if that means it's a completely different BCR song that they had originally been working on and not anything related to BCR Dance With Me

 

Tom already repurposed that main riff from "Dance With Me" for "Ghost On The Dancefloor". I don't really even think there's much else to take from that song to turn into something new (which is why I doubted from the beginning that the new "Dance With Me" was the BCR track).

 

In 2002 I was detained by police while wearing a black BCR because I matched the description of someone breaking into cars “white teen male wear a black Rage Against the Machine T-shirt.”
They probably just scooped me up because I was white kid in a black shirt. But I always thought it would be funny if they had actually confused the BCR artwork for Battle for Los Angeles.

"Dance With Me" sounds fucking raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad live! The chorus sounds so huge with everyone singing along to it.

I had a feeling Mark's low register "dance with meeee" parts in the bridge would be a little challenging to nail, but whatever. The song is fun as shit.
