Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

Really it's 3 singles in just over a week and a half. I think it's a good strategy for getting the general population to notice them, but it's not so good for the fans who are already going to buy it.

I hate when the last two songs are released as singles so yeah that's good, but I agree I don't get the point. Especially since this one work so much better in the album than alone. Idk

Meh, song's kinda boring and meandering. The overly vague lines like "I can't tell you from the drugs" and "somewhere the drugs don't go" I think bother some people

From what ive read about the album, wouldn't Through be a better radio single than Pass the Baby?

    I respect this list

Although it's Jimmy Eat World so it's not like there's gonna be a bad list

It's a conundrum artists face these days, definitely. I feel like most of my favorite albums from this year have had four or five songs out by the time the full thing was released.

It's not even just that it works better in the context of the record, but that it's also the big "left turn" of the bunch. Wouldn't want someone to spoil that without hearing the album. I'm pretty grateful we got to hear this after just the first two had been released, though I don't really think knowing "You With Me" or "You Are Free" would impair the first listen quite like knowing this one would.

That's what I meant, I just articulated it incredibly poorly, haha. It's definitely not something I'd have wanted spoiled (that or the title track).

But now I'm trying to imagine how everyone would've responded if PTB was the lead single, hah

Through was this album's Here It Goes. The obvious single always gets slighted

That would have been hilarious and I kind of wish they'd done it and then released nothing else. Haha

@Jason Tate and I joked a bit about that on the podcast, because it's legitimately like half the thread.

cuz it feels like its not meant as a big song yet to me that makes it sound so big

    The stranger next to me
You promise you promise that you're done
But I cant tell you from the drugs

I think Pass The Baby is so important to this record (I talk a bit about that in my review), so honestly that I agree. Don't listen to it before the record. I

I don't really feel like they're vague, but yeah not everyone is going to connect with those lyrics. In fact I don't really connect with them, but they're fine. It's mostly the atmosphere that makes the song for me. It sets the mood really well for the second half of the album with all the dark, ambient noise that twists and turns throughout the song. To each their own.

I think it's "the drugs." The song definitely had a unique kinda vibe in their discog so I could see why you'd like it. I don't hate it - I don't hate any of their songs - but it on the lower half of the album IMO
