Been a busy day so I'm only just listening for the second time. Killer song

Normally I’d wish the intro guitar part was repeated but it doesn’t matter because literally every part of this song is catchy as hell. And Mark’s pre-chorus is perfect.

The difference in guitarwork between Nine and these singles is so massive. You definitely don't need to hear his voice to know that Tom's back

Just because you think it’s a “mistake” doesn’t actually mean it is one. I cannot stand people implying something they don’t like is due to laziness or carelessness when it comes to music.

And I can't stand when people are just given a pass on something that sounds bad just because they're the expert

  6. Tom has an obvious vocal flub that sounds like one specific phenomenon that occurs when an out of key note hits AutoTune. It can be fixed by rerecording/exiting the vocal, or using Melodyne to nudge the one wrong note into place. Great engineers make mistakes, especially when they're on a time crunch. It was a careless mistake. Some of your favorite records of all time probably had some careless mistakes too. To say something is careless is not to call the person or the entire body of work careless, how is this not computing? There's a genuinely strange amount of hostility toward the fact that I (one singular person out of thousands on this website) think someone did a bad job on something.

Furthermore, it is absolutely ludicrous to expect this band to create what anyone would consider their magnum opus this far into their career. Nobody does that. It is perfectly reasonable to feel like they could write better lyrics. Whether they're autobiographical or just "capturing a feeling" it doesn't mean I have to think they are actually good or clever.

Edit: Let me add one more thing. Look, I really did not come into this thread to shit on other people for liking the song. I love Blink. I grew up on them, and I've seen them live twice. This is an online music forum, literally intended for discourse about this exact topic. I'm gonna share my opinion whether it's negative or positive, and I don't care whether you think I'm qualified to feel how I feel. I hope every member on this site shares that sentiment.

  7. I bet multiple people will have this album as their favorite album by the band in five years. Calling it now.

  8. I've made bigger 180s on music in my life, so I suppose anything is possible. Hey, Tom didn't even wanna be in the band a few years ago.

one of my old band mates/best friends came to me years later the same way with neighborhoods and radiosurgery, i was all about them in 2011 and he was meh 'too cool' and then in like 2014 he was like DUDE these albums are SO good, you were right...

Someone was claiming Buddha was their favorite on reddit a few weeks back and they weren’t joking. So, anything is possible.

  11. While we're on that, the non-deluxe Resurrection is a top 5 New Found Glory album. The last couple Alkaline Trio records are among their best. What a time to be alive.

I imagine this will easily slot into my "all year" blink rotation with Untitled, Dude Ranch and Nine. Enema, TOYPAJ and California are mostly summer albums for me.

  15. Resurrection is pretty much unlistenable. And if we wanna talk about production flubs ...

One of only two NFG albums I virtually never listen to.

  16. Genuinely respect your opinion on these things, what do you dislike about the production?

Resurrection is genuinely one of the most lifeless sounding records I’ve ever heard

  19. It's extremely thin, the guitars have no bite, the drums sound like tin, and it's right between albums produced by way more talented producers that were capable of getting so much more out of the band.

Radiosurgery is when I basically tapped out on NFG - Doesn't sound like I'm missing out.

  22. I do think the drums deserve shame for how blatant the sample replacement is on the snare and particularly the kick. They didn't even try to make it sound real. I love the guitar tones personally.
