They're just so good when what they do is make fun music. Tom embracing the idea of just having fun with it again ... has reinvigorated the band.

 

Some people will find something to complain about no matter what. There's plenty of lyrics in this song lol.

I’m 100 percent in. This shit is just what I need right now. So much fun.

 

I fucking hate the song Feeling Hot Hot Hot so fucking much that the repeated use of "ole" in any song is hard for me to tolerate. Haha. But Dance With Me is catchy as hell, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get over my weird hang up with time.

 

I told myself I'd listen to this song twice (once with video and once without.) I'm on listen #10 now...

 

The song is fun and making fun music is what blink does best. I'm not sure how 4 released songs can completely ruin an entire 17 song record but to each their own, I guess.

 

Listened to the song once and can’t say I love the way Tom is singing. I’m also always more partial to serious (or, more serious at least) Blink so I like More Than You Know and OMT more than this one. But I need to listen to it more. The guitars are great.

Me. Not just that, of course. But that was part of the charm in dozens of their songs. Many blink tracks are great with bad or banal lyrics, still. Such is the case with "Dance With Me".

That said, I will never understand pointing "lyric x is embarrassing coming from a 40 years old person". The tendency to read everything as autobiography (which is a step even further than caring about authorial intent) has to be one of the most reductive and annoying things among music fans (it's worse here than in any other art form). It's much more interesting if each listener makes it about her own point of view...

Listened to it again, just the song, and liked it more.

one thing I’m really relieved about is how the Mark and Tom parts in these songs are all structured differently instead of trading verses like all of California and some of Nine.

 

Bono Tom was the freaking worst. Give me Goofy Tom all day every day instead of Serious Artist Tom.

 

This one was definitely the most different so far in that regard. It was mostly a Tom-led song but it still feels nice that it doesn't just sound like Tom writing the song by himself lol.

I feel like he finally realized that Blink kinda was exactly the band he always wanted: massive and making great music people connected to.

 

Oh my God. This song's cheesy levels are off the charts. and I love it! "Ole were doing it all night long" is up there with Paul Revere. The Mark part lives in that ultra-poppy lyric he was doing on NINE, but it works better set to the backdrop of Tom shouting.

This record feels so assertive in what it is. "Let's do what we should have done the first time we reunited and melt everyone's brains with a killer straightforward pop punk record." I can't help but see every song in the context of the album rather than a single. I am just so excited to hit play on release day and hear the whole thing.

 

All 3 songs released are better than "Edging". Looking forward to this.
