All I can make out are the "Ole" repeats so I guess that noisy mess is "Dance With Me" after all.

Okay I did it and it’s…aggressively just okay. My main issue from before still remains, and that’s that the whole thing just sounds too damn similar. I would dig a good amount of these songs if they came up on shuffle or something, but hearing them all at once is just exhausting. California was also pretty mediocre, but I think it had more variety at least.

 

Yeah, I know I said this already in the thread, but I think both records just "suffer" (and I use that word loosely, because I enjoy them both) from being a bit too long. Whether it's filler or sameness, I think we're saying the same thing. I do love California, I find myself revisiting that quite often especially come summer. Nine, when I revisit that, it's usually just a couple songs here and there.

Put another way: the 2 or 3 strongest songs on Nine are stronger than anything on California, but California is a much stronger album as a whole.
