I agree it starts with the law being rigged against women who are sexually assaulted. There is a long history behind men being the ones who created the laws in the first place that explains that and it hasn’t been corrected.
However I cannot ever let the nfl off the hook here. In virtually every reputable workplace if you’re even found credibly accused of sexually harassment you’re gone. That’s been true in every professional environment I’ve worked in, there’s never been a need for criminal charges. Here the nfl hired a judge who found he used team facilities to engage in predatory behavior and sexual assault. And he was back to work in a highly paid and enabling position within a year! The nfl is absolutely at fault for that, and so is every team that pushed his value up to sign him.

Yeah absolutely, I agree with you 100%. I just think that doesn't mean other players shouldn't be paid yanno. It's messy.

That is true as well yeah. You can always pick up another RB while paying that previous RB and make it work to get out of the first contract later. You absolutely can't do that with QBs without some serious magic.

I do get that, but where I disagree with you is if your #9 or #11 QB in the league wants $55 million in cap hit and $40 mill guaranteed per year, you can be smart about the other 52 players on your roster and make it work. If you have a whole salary cap and the QB salary ruins you then there’s almost definitely like 5 or more other bad investments on the team. It’s not ruined because you paid a QB what they deserve…. It’s the other way around - You couldn’t pay a QB what they deserve because you *already* weren’t smart with the cap.

Now if you have the #22 QB (cough Daniel Jones) then yeah tell him no lol

and if your #5 QB suddenly plummets to #20 (Russell Wilson)…. Shit I just call that bad luck lol. I would’ve paid Wilson too.

 

The Broncos can designate Russ as a post-June 1 cut in the offseason if they wanted to. They would save no money and the dead money would be brutal, but it would get them out of guaranteeing his 2025 salary.

If they didn’t do that though then, yes, they’re on the hook for at least another year, maybe two

 

I just don’t like people using a not good QB as an example of why not to pay good QBs lol. It’s not his fault, he’s collateral damage

“Highest paid ever” is misleading. They should measure that as a percentage of total salary cap, not as a raw number (which ignorantly ignores the fact the cap goes up significantly almost every year)

 

If I’m a QB and my agent is out there fighting for me to become the 14th highest QB in the league, I’m firing him on the spot for being a freeloading sack of shit loser who probably never paid me back for picking up his tab that one time

 

And I am a QB, mind you
