Whoever designed the small field at SoFi should never work in sports architecture again.

  3. This is so stupid. Can we just move on? Replaying the game would ruin the game. We’d have shouts for it every week.

Seriously, get over it. It sucks. But move on.

Great example of considering the intended audience of a manager during these press conferences — Liverpool supporters! Good fodder for them/us!

unfortunately also double edged sword where opposing fans can get their licks from the drama trough but that’s life baby

most ideal situation would have been to not respond and let the club handle it at a more executive-administrative level but wheres the fun in that

The bare minimum is that every ref involved *should* lose their job permanently as a ref. Considering Liverpool and Tottenham are both going to be in the European and title races to some extent or another, the points lost/gained equate to actual millions of dollars of revenue lost/gained. Any of us making that level of mistake in any other field would be fired before the end of the week.

I've often thought replays should be avoided because there are far too many games, but I've also thought points should be given to the aggrieved team (letting the other team keep whatever points they received on the match day) as a way of acknowledging a big enough mistake. Like, if you miss awarding a clear penalty in the 95' that would've changed a tie to a win for one of the teams, let the team that earned the tie, but give an extra point (not a full three to account for the fact some penalties are missed/saved) to the team that had the wrong reffing decision go against them.

  8. Giving teams points after the game would also be a disaster imo. It’d be a weekly thing.

Mistakes are unfortunately part of the game. We should obviously do whatever we can to limit these mistakes. But we can’t start retroactively awarding teams points or replaying games every time a bad call happens. And I know that’s not exactly what you’re suggesting, but that’s what it’d become.

  9. Maybe. But giving the fans this bait isn’t good for the sport imo. And when you consider Liverpool is the most adored club by the media, Klopp putting this out there will only cause more unnecessary drama.

I don't think an additional point for a truly egregious call here and there (for example, I can't think of any other truly glaring game where you could point to this level of error off the top of my head; VAR has helped as much as its hurt) is any different than rescinding red cards between matches for that mistake being made.

  11. Liverpool weren’t guaranteed a point even if that goal was allowed. That’s my problem with it.

I get that, and I don't think my suggestion ever happens, but taking a lead in a 0-0 game certainly changes how you play and probably doesn't lead to them getting two aggressive catch-up foul red cards, etc, which changes the way the game is played entirely for both teams. That's why I suggested that the other team isn't penalized (so you'd keep all 3 points in this scenario) points. It moves the impetus on the refs for a higher standard.

90k is such an interesting figure, how do they arrive at that specific amount

the real tragedy of the VAR debacle is Salah losses his 12 or 13 game streak of goal involvements and I lose FPL points

You'd think Liverpool were the first team to ever get a dodgy decision go against them...

It would be one thing if Klopp added the context of all the calls Liverpool have gotten in the past few years. Soccer is not alone in having officials determine/change outcomes. It is part of the game. Retroactively awarding points for certain mistakes is opening up a can of worms that would never be contained.

I'll say it again. Play better so a decision from a ref isn't what the game comes down to.

Per Fabrizio: “Morocco, Spain and Portugal are set to host the 2030 World Cup.

Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to play their first games at home to celebrate 100 years since the first edition.

It’s gonna be World Cup in three continents for the first time ever.”

Well, Arsenal drawing with Brentford last year was very similar. It sucked. But I don’t remember calls for the game to be replayed, at all. This is mad.
