Liverpool had some good chances, Ibra had some bad misses, overall kind of a dreadful game.

 

Coulda won with the Ibra chance, coulda lost. Decent game all round. Liverpool were alright but we stifled them well. Lack of a proper counter attacking option when Rashford and Young went so deep stopped us doing that much. Herrera was great, once again. Missed Martial a fair bit, all things considered.

2 points dropped since we've won the last four league games against them though

@ Liverpool fans, is Lallana actually very good or does him playing allow Coutinho, Firmino and Mané to play better?

 

both, he's been fantastic under klopp. the deeper role suits him. he's a pest defensively, holds the ball up, links up with the forward attackers well, and gets into good spaces when he can see everything in front of him.

it does have the added effect of breaking up firmino and sturridge, who i dont like both on the field at the same time. it pushes firmino wide where he's not effective and pulls him further away from coutinho so they can't interplay as much. i think the team is much less cohesive generally when sturridge is on the field and that he's a clear second option at this point.

 

United are incredibly dull to watch. Still.
