This album is very bad.

 

Shoulda changed the name to no bangers here

 

Listened through this on my way to work this morning; I actually didn't mind this at all. At least I didn't get the feeling of "ooofff" when listening to ggbbxx. Musically, some interesting songs on here. Lyrically, "slightly" more grown up than the previous album as well (which isn't saying much I admit). Overall it feels like they're kind of playing it safe with this album, which isn't a bad thing. Guitar seems a bit more prominent in the mix as well, which I appreciate. Of course doesn't achieve the heights of Malibu Nights, but still a fairly decent effort. Seeing them live in a few weeks here as well, which I'm looking forward to.

 

The songs that weren't released as singles are better than the songs that were. Still not as good as their previous stuff. It's very obvious this guy only surrounds himself with 'yes' people. One person pointing out cringe-worthy lyrics would save this band a lot of hate.

There are a few songs on here I'm digging, but overall eh.

 

I liked this more than gg bb xx, but it’s still not up there with their self titled or malibu nights. There are a handful of songs I liked but the bad ones are really bad.

 

I’m done with this band tbh there are others that are filling this void that are less icky

 

Rain in LA and No are decent

‘No’ has a pretty good chorus but that’s it for the album.

I like “Rains in LA” but band has lost any magic from their first or second albums. This is hot ASS

 

I vibe with Saturday morning now too. So there’s at least 3-4 I like here.

 

No, XXL, Home is where the hurt is, I pray, Sugar and cinnamon, and cause I have to are good. The rest of the album is some of the worst they’ve ever made though.

 

Seeing these guys live tomorrow night here in Oslo - really excited. Looks like they're opening with "Thick and Thin", which will be awesome

 

Gotta say, “No” is a banger

 

'i cant say no to you' feels like a pretty terrible chorus lyric for this band, gotta say

 

No is easily the best song off the new album

It’s the only song from the album I kept in my library

 

I recently purchased gg bb xx on cassette and I have to admit there’s some solid bangers after listening through it a few times.

The lyrics are still awful, but songs such as dna, roll over baby, ‘til i don’t, and never mind let’s break up are much better now than they were 3 years ago. dancing in the kitchen, take care, get away, & up to me we’re always bops.

tl;dr: I’d rank this album above Mama’s Boy in 2024.

 

I absolutely rank it higher than mamas
