  1. Already in the middle of The Joshua Tree and I'm ascending. The way that album starts with three hits back to back, songs that I've heard thousands of times due to their omnipresence on a couple radio stations my parents would put on in the car in the 00s for some reason. Years removed from their overplay, they now sound fresh to my ears. The combo of spacey guitar licks with metallic basslines and Bono's soaring voice continues to melt my heart.

Any iconic performances or even live sets I could watch? I'm ready to savour everything they've done now.

Bad from live aid comes to mind, also any videos on YouTube from the Joshua tree tour or zoo tv tour. Also for what it’s worth side A of the Joshua tree is the greatest side of any album of all time, or at least nothing is better

live at the red rocks is pretty rad for older live sets, and yeah second the live aid version of bad. also if youre looking to immerse yourself in everything u2, bono wanted joshua tree to be a double album for a long time so the bonus disc has a wealth of good shit on it (unforgettable fire's also has some great stuff on it too)

Logging in for the first time in years to respond to this and suggest Live at Slane Castle from 2001. I come back to this performance often and you can find a good chunk of it on YouTube. My favorite section is below with All I Want Is You going into Where the Streets Have No Name.

  5. Yeah on Spotify I've been picking the deluxe editions of each album so I get to hear all the bsides and remixes. The Brian Eno one on the bonus disc, for example, is neat.

Thanks for all the recs! I'll start digging into these performances during the weekend.

Luminous Times from the Joshua Tree sessions is one of my all-time favourites. and the superior version of Sweetest Thing too

Considering it the first weekend in November but tickets are just so expensive. I’d really love to see them though

keep watching stubhub, think a lot of scalpers are getting nervous. prices for some of the shows has dipped below $200/ticket.

Would love to see that show, but yeah, not going to be able to swing tickets + a trip to Las Vegas.

Yeah I actually have to go to Vegas for something else and I have that Saturday night free so I feel like if I can get tickets for under $200 then I'll absolutely go, just gonna keep an eye on prices like @somethingwitty mentioned. I've seen everyone I've ever wanted to see, including Bruce for the second time at Wrigley Field last month , except for U2...this seems like the best opportunity at this point.

big The Clash vibes here, solid song.

just noticed the Blondie interpolation in the chorus, it’s cool they gave Debbie a writing credit on it.

Sounds like a Songs of Innocence outtake.

Hey the new song is… not bad! That cover art does it injustice lol. But really liking the production and song structure on this one, bass breakdown + guitar solo + great Larry drumming and a hooky (if not borrowed) chorus vocal from Bono is a pretty great combination.

SPHERE LANDS TONIGHT! My shows are in 2 weeks… absolutely cannot wait. Gonna try to stay spoiler free.

This is the greatest 10 minutes of live music ever put on tape and I won’t be taking any questions about it.

It does feel pretty transcendent. I would love to have been at this this show.

If I’m not mistaken, this was recorded right before their US tour and 10 days before 9/11. I got to see them at their stop in Providence and it was amazing.

I don’t have much interest in seeing massive concerts anymore, but I will 100% try to attend if they ever tour again.

This is my fav U2 live performance…the falsetto that Bono does during Lemon is quite incredible. Not sure he still has the pipes for that range anymore.

Then the bass line here is so underrated, how Adam transitions from Lemon to With or Without You is so damn seamless.

Really hoping they bring back Lemon for the Sphere shows, even if they have to lower the key a bit.

It’s wild to think this was 2 days after Bono’s dad died.

Fuck this is incredible, thank you for sharing. Man, U2 at their peak really is one of the greatest to ever do it.
