I think Portland came away with a much better return than anything Miami could've offered, assuming they weren't going to include Bam or Jimmy. Ayton fits their roster much better than Herro would've, and that 2029 pick is very interesting since it's so far out. And they get Jrue to flip.

0verall I think all three teams came away with a good return here. Yes, Phoenix essentially turned the number 1 pick in Luka's draft into a bunch of role players, but they also got off Ayton's max deal while adding more quality depth. Remember when they traded for Beal and had five guys under contract with nothing to offer but vet minimums? They've done well to put lots of interesting guys around them. And Milwaukee had to do something like this in light of Giannis' recent comments. They've got even fewer avenues to do anything else big now and they're not terribly deep, but those were already issues pre-Dame. The question is whether the boost to their offense will be able to offset the downgrade in defense. Maybe Lillard will actually play a little harder on that end now that he's got more scorers around him, but who knows.

I think the Ayton/Nurkic swap was going to happen whether it was Miami or Milwaukee. The Heat definitely had more assets, they just chose not to include them and hoped Dame would reject any other team. More of a pride issue than anything imo.

The Milwaukee Bucks did not approach Giannis Antetokounmpo before they moved forward with their trade of Jrue Holiday for Damian Lillard.

"Directly, he literally played no role," said Adrian Wojnarowski. "In fact, Jon Horst did not bring this trade idea or sign off on it to Giannis Antetokounmpo because Jrue Holiday was involved. And the relationship there and the reverence that this organization and these players have for Holiday. He did not want to put that to Giannis Antetokounmpo and have him have that on his conscious necessarily that he might sign off or not sign off on it."

The Bucks believe their trade for Lillard improves their title odds, while also increasing the likelihood Antetokounmpo chooses to eventually sign an extension.

Milwaukee also didn't approach Antetokounmpo on whether he would commit long-term if they traded for Lillard.

  14. I think this is Woj carrying some water for Horst here and seems like a PR thing imo.

Giannis has been pretty open in saying (more so this summer) that if they don’t improve and try to compete he’s gonna evaluate his options. This is a home run move that nobody even had on their radar in the media as being a possibility.

I know he loves Jrue but he also would’ve probably drove him to the airport for Dame

    Legion Hoops lol.

But yes, them and Philly and Boston are the names I keep seeing this morning and afternoon

  18. Clippers are probably the team that would give up the most picks. I don't think the Sixers have many they can trade in a deal. Boston is Boston

It’d be cool to have Marcus Smart, but good, but I don’t see Boston giving up Robert Williams to make the money work

Three-way trade between the Clippers/Sixers/Blazers might make more sense for the Blazers because I assume they'd be able to get a pick from both the Sixers and Clippers to make it happen. Doubt there's any way they get more than one from either if it's only a two-team trade.

No idea how Boston would do it unless they could get rid of Brogdon or were willing to part with White. A bunch of other teams (especially the Knicks) make quite a bit of sense, too.

  24. This is unnecessary but also fucking hilarious
