I know there is currently a bidding war for NOES and Friday the 13th has the series on peacock that will start filming next year

It’s wild to me that 3 Texas chainsaw films have been made since the last Friday or NOES. Absolutely wack and should be illegal

Give me a new freak over the same killer any day. A trilogy is at far as it should go.

There haven’t been any iconic horror villains like Michael, Jason, and Freddy though (maybe Ghostface). So if we get more of them I’m all game.

Bring Zombie back and let him have a crack at the others

I'd argue pearl is the most recent iconic horror villain.

    Others:

    Art the Clown
    Annabelle
    M3gan

Those are known characters to people that watch a lot of horror films. I feel like Michael, Jason, and Freddy reached an audience that would usually not watch horror.

  14. I think M3GAN needs more than one movie, but people definitely love Art the Clown.

If one movie counts, I think Sam from Trick r' Treat is worthy of consideration.

Megan feels less like a brand new thing and more like a modern Chucky. Give her two sequels and a crossover.

Sam is 100% a horror icon even with 1 movie--he is everywhere during Halloween season. I also adore Trick 'r Treat and would love another movie. They could do so much with that concept.

Trick 'r Treat is an all-time great Halloween flick and I do feel like Sam is fairly iconic, whether you've seen the film or not - you probably recognize the costume/mask. But, I would prefer it be left alone.

If they’re an icon, you’ll see their merch at Spirit Halloween or Spencer’s.

Kind of late to this, but I feel like A24 would come closest to understanding the spirit and atmosphere and tone of the original, rather than any of the other studios that probably see the series as “scary man in mask brutally kills people with lots of gore.”

Maybe that’s an oversimplification, and obviously I too would be confused as to what exactly a TV series would entail, but if it had to end up in someone’s hands I feel they’d be a good fit.

But like others have said, I’d prefer they just leave the series alone for a while.

  21. scary man in a mask brutally kills people IS the spirit of the original, though!

  22. idk guys I think Jean Jacket is pretty iconic

(but as far as new iconic franchise villains go, yeah, I can't think of any)

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I haven't even seen the movies yet and I hear Art the Clown mentioned allll the time. like a lot

really though Mildred from Deadstream >>>

I just meant the emphasis was more on suspense than brutality/kills/gore, which is what I feel like the franchise has been going for since Zombie’s Halloween.

  25. Pinhead and Pennywise are pretty iconic but they aren't entirely new. Something like the baby mascot from HDD would be unrecognizable to non horror fans. There just aren't any new killer masks anymore
