I am convinced people don't actually like brussels sprouts and just say they do

they taste like literal trash unless they are drenched in butter

 

That’s just my morning routine

 

because there is always a better way to cook them, steamed is never the best option ever.

 

Am I allowed to complain about being a Steelers fan? It’s really tough you guys.

 

Most vegetables suck without butter.

 

the best way to eat broccoli is

salt
pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
spritz of olive oil

bake for like 10-15 mins

 

because you literally are boiling all the natural flavor out of them and diluting the veggie lol. i’m not gonna argue over texture since i am that way with some other foods and i think that’s more subjective but boiling is objectively the worst way to prepare 90% of veggies lol

 

I think, probably not? But who knows who makes the rules these days.

 

so many veggies i thought i hated bc the only way i had them to that point sucked the life out of them

 

steaming them is faster and to me it’s more reliable about texture. It’s easier than pan searing to cook the Brussels sprout soft enough to chew, but without making some of them mushy or releasing their bitter flavor. You cant cook it in a sauce, granted, but you can still make balsamic and prosciutto glaze or lemon garlic butter or whatever you want to flavor it with and drizzle on top, only the Brussels sprouts are slightly crunchy instead of soft, which I like better.

I like roasted Brussels sprouts but it takes too damn long. I don’t like side dishes taking longer than the meal itself so I tend to only do that for holidays or special meals

 

Boiling is not steaming

boiled vegetables are trash. The only vegetables I boil are potatoes and corn on the cob. But steaming them without actually getting them in the water, I find, preserves the flavor and texture of some vegetables, specifically the ones that are very crunchy and hard when raw.

if steamed veggies are losing flavor then you’re steaming them for too long. It shouldn’t take more than 6-8 minutes.

A guy I follow who has a local Thunder podcast and a job as an NBA podcast guy for the athletic posted a podcast producer position awhile back and I think it was like $65k, seems pretty good to work there aside from the occasional mass layoffs
