I don't see anyone in the recent posts above saying either. The poster who claimed they didn't love the album even said that it wasn't a misstep and was the right decision for the band. There has been no mention of selling out, which is a point so irrelevant in the context of Green Day.

Also this entire forum is pretty much about 'feeling the need to say so' - eg sharing an opinion on something.

The new edition of The Replacements album “Tim.” It came out last week and is absolutely worth your time if you’ve never heard it!

  3. It’s not the same as “top six albums all time” either imo. Like AI maybe wouldn’t make my top ten if I sat down and ranked but I still need to be able hear it at least a couple times a year, forever

This thread for some reason inspired me to put Revolution Radio on this morning, which I haven't listened to in years and damn it's really good and occasionally great. Nice.

It’s pretty underrated by a lot of people. It rules. Not their best, but it’s good.

Weird that she didn’t feel compelled to adjust those schedules for the release of the National’s Laugh Track.

Classic Replacements album, their best in my opinion. And now finally it no longer sounds flat thanks to a new mix. The Replacements were a big influence on Green Day (and lots of punk/indie more generally).

Would love if they use all of the Dookie remaster stuff as a springboard to promote new shit. They already played that new song at that random festival so I have some optimism that we're finally getting close

Any reason to be excited for a new release from them after the last 3?

Revolution Radio was a good album though, and haphazard as the trilogy was, there were some really good songs.

Honestly, I think people are a little over-the-top in their criticism, so while I don't know if I'd say I'm excited, I'm at least interested to hear what direction they go in.

Agree with this fully. RR was really good, if not underwhelming to a lot of people after AI and 21CB. The trilogy has plenty of really great songs. I haven't listened to FOAM much outside of the first 2 or 3 times, but it was fun...just not a typical green day album and a little odd lyrically. But still, just a fun record to throw on

They are working with Rob Cavallo again on this one, which is a decent reason to be excited (even if I still hope we get a "normal" Green Day album produced by Butch Walker at some point)

I honestly just think of FOAM as a dumb but still fun album. It would still be at the bottom or near bottom of my rankings, but it's not because I dislike it.

  22. Agreed. (And I have FOAM higher up in my rankings mostly because I don't have know like 5 or 6 of Green Day's albums well enough to even rank them.)

99% of the people in here can't just have fun with an album. So they make sure to yuck everyone else's yum every chance they get.

  23. A "normal" Green Day album? Aren't there already like 6 Green Day albums that sound more or less the same? God forbid they change up their sound just a tiny bit to keep from sounding like clones of themselves again and again and again like they did for years. And even then, there's songs like "Sugar Youth" that sound just like "normal" Green Day.

FOAM is bad and not fun. Sorry, Brad.

    RevRad is good.

I do like some songs scattered throughout the trilogy, but a lot of it is bad.

Despite the bad, I am looking forward to their next album. They're one of my all time favorite bands and clearly have the ability to write brilliant songs. I’ll always want to hear what they cook up.

I don’t think that’s true. I think most of their albums are distinct. A few exceptions, sure. But 6? No way. They have changed up the vibe various times over the years.

Also, changing their sound is not the same as still writing good songs. FOAM was different, but also bad. It’s not bad because of the change in style.
