Got to check this out. Blink 182 is a marvelous band.

 

Trying to remember if I bought TOYPAJ from The Wall, Coconuts, or FYE. I feel like The Wall was gone by then, but FYE feels to new? Anyway, i’ll be filing for Social Security soon.

Not to be all “well actually,” but it might be judging by the amps? Tom’s look like the Vox set he was running at the time, not the cabs he used during the TOYPAJ tour. And I want to say Mark’s cabs during TOYPAJ had that wizard scene painted on them, whereas his Reading setup matches what’s in the OMT video.

 

I don't have his number. Things are fraught.

 

I always throw songs into Ableton and cancel out the middle channel so I can isolate the guitar and learn all of the parts… Man there are tons of great pieces layered into that bridge on “More Than You Know”. Also clearly hearing Mark’s chorus harmonies now which sound so good.

Listened to Nine tonight and man, Heaven shoulda been a single. Such a great chorus.

on Apple music it's amazing to me how worse much the album mix of Edging is compared to the single mix. It sounds like a radio rip, how bizarre....

 

You can’t control if he will ever hear the song. You can control sending him a text or whatever to initiate communication. Maybe even send him the song with it. Explain how it made you feel and inspired you to reach out. Let music heal broken hearts.

But seriously, being open and vulnerable can be hard, but you don’t know what’s in store down the road. Life moves fast. I went 9 years without seeing my longest going back best friends because I felt like a failure and an embarrassment. When I finally went back and saw them it was the best time ever. I encourage you to reach out to your friend… one more time.

Too many pages to sift through to check if this has already been talked about, but I can't be the only one hearing that the verses on OMT are almost the exact same as I Miss You, right? Nearly identical vocal melody, just a little slower.

Love both songs though! Blink is back baby

 

OMT is amazing. And not (only) because of nostalgia and feels. It really captures something I like about blink the most. Simple, but endlessly charming. Simple, but endlessly catchy. Simple, yet complex in terms of songwriting.

They are really millennial Beatles.

They still have it.

And I’m so grateful for this.

 

MTYK on the other hand is cool, but it’s the least fave of three singles. However it shows the range, and still slaps.

 

OMT is a grower for sure. That chorus starts hitting now.

 

The OMT chorus melody is one of those that just sticks in your head.

 

This was a fun listen. Unfortunately its in swedish, but maybe there are some other scandinavians here. In the 182nd episode of ”Nere på noll” Erik Ohlson from Millencolin spends two hours talking about memories from touring with blink in the 90’s. Apparently they were good friends back then. He talks about hanging out with Tom and Mark and their relationship, Scott leaving, their breakout and a bunch of other stuff.

Not blown away by anything they've released from this record, but they're all decent tracks. MTYK sounds like two different songs mashed together, something a bit awkward about it. Still kinda rips though.

 

OMT is about missing each other. It’s clever to incorporate the “I miss you” melody into the song.

 

Will definitely check this out. Love Millencolin as well. And for all the non-scandinavians in here, AI can probably translate this and make it sound American sometime this week, at the rate those things are going.
