So sorry for these guys but I let the biggest sigh of relief out because I wasn't paying close attention and thought those dates had been canceled entirely

Saw them last night in ATL, as always such a good show as always. Loved hearing some of the new stuff too.

Anyone in here interested in a ticket for the Austin date. My wife can't go anymore, so I don't want the ticket going to waste.

I am having second thoughts about driving 4ish hours each way to see them tonight - obviously I've already bought the ticket but I'm not hot on the support at all

They saved the sign, supposedly the bottom floor of the new building going there will have a restaurant where they're hanging it up.

Is it just me or does this sound like a Get Stoked On It song title

I get that but always thought the same issue was worse on a song like Cardinals.

Whenever I'm on a road trip with my wife and The Devil in My Bloodstream comes on, I always need to be prepped to turn the volume down when the "I bet I'd be a fucking coward" line kicks in so the sudden volume shift doesn't jump scare her haha

Was just wondering, what bands do you think are most similar to The Wonder Years in sound, and/or most strongly inspired them?

  15. I've always thought Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, and The Weakerthans were some of the closest sounding inspirations, but I know the band has really diverse tastes and I'm sure we could be here for a while discussing that. I know they mentioned looking up to Hit the Lights back in the pre-Upsides days as well.

The Swellers, Polar Bear Club, and Fireworks are all similar sounding contemporaries.

I think that one works best out of all their songs, because you can actually hear the slow part without turning the volume up. It's the best song on TGG.

I have a free ticket for the Berkeley show tonight if anyone sees this in time! My friend can’t go and it’d hate for it to go to waste

In case Nick still lurks here… noticed that you, Matt, Casey all follow Neural DSP on IG. I’m fairly new to it but have been blown away by some of the tones I can dial in.

Have you guys moved to a more digital route in recent years for writing, demoing, recording, and/or just noodling around? Any specific plugins you love? I’ve been able to recreate some Suburbia/TGG TWY-esque tones with the Cory Wong “Amp Snob” head (something Dumble-y), though when I’ve seen you guys live I’ve largely noticed JCM800s or similar Blackstars.

  21. I do not play in The Wonder Years but the Fortin sim from Neural DSP definitely gets you into the tonal category you want to be in for this band. Matt Brasch did a rig rundown for Warped Tour back in 2015 and mentioned he uses a low gain overdrive sound on the amp and stacks 1-3 overdrives to make it heavier.

  22. What a special show and a special band, god damn.

All of the openers were great, but Anxious especially played like they're ready to headline huge places.

Saw the tour last night, can't believe I saw these dudes open for FYS in 2010 and they're still ripping, absolutely the top of their game.

Had never heard of Sweet Pill but they made a fan of me.

Pretty sure they are almost all digital now when playing live and I believe they play Line6 Helix.

Had such a good time on Sunday. I was really dragging my feet about going cus I had a very long weekend and I typically hate the venue, but I knew I'd never forgive myself if I skipped it. Luckily I got a nice spot in the center of the balcony pretty close to the front. I had my own space but people around me still got up and were really into it, so I had a great time.

I got way more emotional than I expected, and realized this was the first anniversary tour for an album I really felt like I was a part of the original cycle for. There's a few other albums I've seen I could make that argument for, but there was something different about this one. I remember everything about it: the promo, seeing them at the Bottom Lounge at 10 am, going to the tour and discovering Citizen and Modern Baseball for the first time. I almost forgot how much this album meant to me.

Plus seeing it live has me feeling more connected to this band than I have in several years. I left it and just wanted to listen to the Hum Goes On, which I enjoyed a lot last year, but has hit me in a whole different way this week.

Anyway, the Wonder Years are pretty cool.
