Ugh my friend is getting engaged on Sunday and then throwing a surprise engagement party with all of us there and it starts at 1:30 pm.

Like WTF man get engaged on a Saturday

Multiple of my friends have done this recently too, like wtf just get dinner with your immediate family after. I don't need to be there for it

 

I do not at all see the point of an engagement party

 

its just an excuse to get extra gifts.

I am certainly not bringing them a gift to this, because ya know there will then be a bridal shower and then the wedding.

We didn't do an engagement party, bridal shower, etc. None of that nonsense. Just come to the wedding and have fun

 

It was a big drama for my wife's family we didn't have a bridal shower. Her mom was ready to book out a freakin' venue for it??

We were like absolutely not. I don't need to have all these people come to this, feel obligated to buy me a toaster, and then wrap me in toilet paper and spin me or whatever they do there. Just absolutely a no for me
