I’m glad you admit those are best case scenarios. Because in my opinion the more realistic case scenarios are:

1) Fields improves some, but not enough. The team is still sold on him anyway because they are drinking just enough of the “sunk cost fallacy” Kool aid to believe the capital invested into him makes him worth it. They talk themselves into keeping a QB with a very uneasy development curve because of a very slight encouraging incline in performance, he ends up holding them back (remember Blake Bortles?)

2) Fields continues to not be it, but his high floor of running and deep ball still wins you out of QB1 / QB2 compared to bad teams that don’t have that super fast QB who can rip it 60 yards … and then it’s a good chance QB3 or QB4 is another polarizing project QB like Fields all over again haha

I need Fields to stop sucking complete ass for fantasy reasons. He can continue to be bad but not this bad

 

This is why I’m saying the Bears need to panic and need to make a decision EARLY this season - before the trade deadline. If they can’t stack up draft capital then they might end up in a tough spot where their choices are either pay Fields way too much money, or draft another rough QB like Fields and start over again and hope “this time it might work for US”

That’s the worst place to be in, the Jags were in that spot from like 2000 to 2020 lmfao

We might say the Bears at least have a better supporting cast in place for their next QB than for this one, but again - that’s only if they panic and make a decision now. Players like DJ Moore are not gonna sit around for years on a team that isn’t serious about the QB position.
