  1. The cover art of May is burned into my brain from the rental store, but I've never seen it.

    Also, Squirm rules

Stephen King’s Rose Red miniseries is coming to Hulu on 10/1. It’s nothing spectacular but it came out when I was 10 and I’ve always loved it, so recommend that for anyone that hasn’t seen it before

I’ve always loved it for that same reason. Was 13 but still scared me ha.

Melanie Lynskey, Emily Deschanel, Nancy Travis, and Marnie from Halloweentown, it's a stacked cast.

  9. Wow, I've wanted to rewatch that for so long. Loved that one growing up. Also loved Kingdom Hospital, lol

  10. Oh yeah, thoughts on Doctor Sleep. I liked it a bit more than I did on first watch, probably a 6.5/10 for me, but I agree with Paul Rust when I say I feel like it's impossible to like the Rose the Hat stuff more than the Shining fan service stuff. I just don't care about psychic adrenochrome vampires that dress like Johnny Depp and don't like them being an explanation for the mysteries that happen in Kubrick's Shining film. And while it's admirable of Flanagan to try and balance a King adaptation with a sequel to the Kubrick's film, it just leads to some really weird tonal stuff and pacing. That being said, the stuff I don't like doesn't seem to be his fault at all. The movie is well-directed, mostly well-casted and lovingly crafted. As a horror film lover (and a Stephen king fan), it's just that Kubrick's adaptation is like the definitive The Shining to me, and so naturally, the direct King adaptation stuff here doesn't work as well for me. I know the director's cut is lauded (especially around here), but I can't imagine this movie being half an hour longer lol

Same director actually did those two and Storm of the Century. He also did two non-King miniseries called The Triangle and The Lost Room that are a ton of fun, the latter being pretty amazing imo.

  12. Wow, I know the other two but have never heard of The Lost Room. It's on my list now!

Rebecca Ferguson is cool enough to sell the Rose the Hat stuff for me.

If you just think they're dressed like Stevie Ray Vaughan instead of Johnny Depp it makes it better.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Rose the Hat is a great villain. her partner is fuckin Zahn McClarnon dressed like a cowboy! in conclusion the movie is perfect

  17. The little one is Violet McGraw, who most recently played Cady in M3gan! and was also Young Nell in Hill House

The baseball kid is Jacob Tremblay, he's been in a bunch of stuff, probably his earliest most prominent role is in Room

And of course there's Kyliegh Curran, who's gonna be in Fall of the House of Usher. I watched Secret of Sulphur Springs and surprisingly really enjoyed it!

The young cast in this is really great, one of the many, many reasons why I absolutely love this movie

Flanagan is insanely good at casting young actors. he actually gave Tremblay his first role before Room, but the movie (Before I Wake) wasn't released until years later. it also kinda stinks, it's the only thing he's made I don't like

another fun fact is Tremblay's performance in Doctor Sleep was so good he freaked out all the adult actors who were pretending to murder him

Damn Friday came up quick. I’m dealing with an extra bad migraine today so I’ll also have to double dip tomorrow too probably. Watching Halloweentown after a Brandon Cronenberg movie sounds like a good idea anyway.

I did also download a 4K copy of Infinity Pool this morning in preparation though. I figured my first time deserved a little more than just a regular HD copy
