Yeah I’m actually glad I’m not super into the openers. It’ll be nice to show up late for TWY and not have to stand for four hours lol.

I saw this tour in Richmond last night. I know it was a Wednesday, but it was the first Wonder Years show I've ever seen where it wasn't completely packed/sold out. It was my 18th time seeing them and while it wasn't like, empty or anything, I feel like I've never seen them where it wasn't packed like sardines. I was more surprised as I figured TGG would be instant sellouts across the country, but it doesn't seem to be going that way. Either way, what a show. This band is just special and last night was another special night. My heart is telling me to go to Charlotte tomorrow but my wallet is trying to talk me out of it. We'll see who wins!

This tour definitely isn’t selling as well as the tour with Hot Mulligan. I think the support has a lot to do with it. None of those bands really draw and have mostly opened a lot of smaller tours.

I would have been 100% more likely to go to this tour in one of the cities near me if there were NOT 4 openers. I don't have it in me anymore to drive 3 hours then stand for at least over 2 hours to wait for the band I actually want to see to go on, even if it is literally my favorite band. I really, really hope they can just tour with 1-2 good openers on the next run.

Just show up late. That’s what I’m doing. My old ass will not be standing for 4 hours during a show. I’ll wait until people have set times and plan to arrive near the end of whoever is playing before TWY. It’s no disrespect to the openers, I just don’t care to make my body miserable and want to actually enjoy the band I paid to see. If I stood the whole show I’d be not having fun by the time TWY plays lol

Honestly thrilled I got a balcony ticket for my show. It’ll be nice to have a seat for all the openers lol.

Now that I'm 30+ I'm in the same boat lol. I needed to stay out of the pit for SeeYouSpaceCowboy when I saw them a few days ago and the seats were a godsend

  10. wait, people aren't into the openers? Anxious and Sweet Pill are so much more interesting than Hot Mulligan imo. Both of them had some of my favorite records last year. Not huge on Action/Adventure, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

EDIT: I do understand folks not wanting to physically hurt themselves standing the whole time, I'm getting old too but I am just in denial

I was more so talking about the average pop punk fan. Hot Mulligan had tons of momentum/draw before the TWY tour. I’d say a few hundred fans even left after they played and they are selling out those same venues on their fall headliner. The openers on this tour are nowhere near that popular and would maybe draw a couple hundred people if they did a headliner. I’m surprised TWY didn’t get a bigger band to do direct support.

  12. I do think it's cool that they brought out a really diverse lineup for this tour. I'm excited to see all of these bands, but I'd also always prefer one opener and a not so late night.

Every second of Sweet Pill's set I got the feeling that they're gonna be massive soon

  14. You're right, which makes me a little sad - I just missed the boat on Hot Mulligan, their appeal is so limited in my eyes. I think TWY probably thought that TGG was a crowd puller, and honestly I'm surprised it isn't

  15. they definitely feel one big song away from breaking big. Kinda hoping a band like Paramore or FOB brings them on a really big tour.

I definitely wish the bill was one band smaller. I'm not the "show up late" type. I like to be in the front for TWY, and if not the front, then right along the side guardrails at HOB. Showing up anything but an hour or so before doors completely negates any chances of that happening, and I'm short, so then my options become limited and I get grumpy about driving 3+ hours to have a shitty view.

It definitely gets harder with every passing tour and birthday, though, haha. I loved the winter/spring tour because I really enjoy both Hot Mulligan and Carly Cosgrove. So, time passes more quickly and I don't feel like I'm just standing around all night waiting for TWY to come on.

Definitely going to give these bands a couple more shots before my date next month.

  17. The unfinished, auto-tuned verse in the “Teenage Parents” demo is so great.

I am just here to say, 'You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End' is one of my favorite TWYs songs ever. Perhaps it is my favorite, but it's certainly up there. However, the volume shift at 1:20 is too much. I always have to jack up the volume before the guitars and drums come in to hear Dan singing, then I have to quickly turn it down so my ears aren't blasted when the instruments come in. I know nothing about mixing/recording/whatever, but I wish the beginning parts of the song were louder on the track.

Anyone got set times for this? Trying to figure out what time to show up to skip the openers and see TWY.

I showed up late too, but Anxious went on around 8:30 and TWY around 9:30.

My show isn’t until the end of the month but that helps. Show starts at 645 here so I assume TWY goes on between 915-930.
