Don't think they will. I'm calling boygenius or Paramore for that one.

Vmas were super relevant when I was a teen. Not so much now.

Sorry, way too much to read through yesterday, do we think the whole calendar is a troll or are we really not getting anything until the 21st now ? Or do we not know shit?

  8. The 21st is the date to look forward to, for now.

Never forget Tom teasing ,,Losing My Mind” to the point he released like 5 different teasers of the song through the week so basically when the song came out we heard it all already lol

I absolutely think that calendar was an intentional troll job because it did not actually have the album release date, but it had International No Pants Day.

And because 9/21 from the alarm was shared on their main page's insta story, I would imagine that is the date of the new single/announcement. The calendar (which might be a joke) did have "BIG ANNOUNCE" on Monday, but I'm more likely imagining next Thursday/Friday are the days you want.

Didn’t the calendar say that the “countdown begins” today? So maybe we’ll know forsure what the actual date is?

MTV hasn’t regularly shown music videos in at least a decade, yet they are still futilely holding onto having the VMA’s. Why, I have no idea? Nostalgia, “tradition”, one last grasp at staying relevant to the music industry? I’d argue they’re a culturally insignificant relic at this point, and it just makes more sense to kill it off and be done with it already.

    Things have changed.

The 9/9/99 VMAs are still seared into my brain.

NINE got a bunch of plays last week. Did California front-to-back last night on my run. NINE has higher highs and lower lows. California is still my pick between the two. What a way to introduce Matt with Cynical as the opener. As rad as it is to hear Tom playing it in the setlist Matt is unmatched with that "WHAT'S THE POINT OF SAYING SORRY NOW" So damn good.

I guess I am doing a discography play-through in reverse order now.

DED the song deserves an occasional live play. It's a banger and a better example of Tom and Mark trading vocals than the majority of Neighborhoods.

MTV once defined culture. Now they don’t have a clue. Constantly chasing trends instead of setting them. Their on air talent were tastemakers, curators of what was cool - a concept that has become so watered down and lost by social media and influencer culture. Who is even their audience anymore? I worked on a college campus for over 10 years and could count on one hand the amount of times I heard students mention MTV.

I’ve said for years, they should give up on the youth and double down on nostalgia - go hard on gen-x and millennial programming. The generations that grew up with it and are likely to still watch tv in some capacity. Can still introduce new acts and have some trash reality tv and whatnot, but blow up the programming entirely.
