@Randall Mentzos - They think if you were to draw a list of who you might consider betting on for the Super Bowl, the jets would be one of the teams you think about

@ Rest - Randall (and I) were more bullish on them than the rest of the thread and probably wouldn’t have seriously considered betting on them to make it there, even with Rodgers

Eagles, Chiefs, 49ers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Bengals, Vikings, Ravens, Chargers, Bills all have really good rosters as well. (And no I’m not including the Jaguars, I think they’re underdogs right outside of that tier but with a QB who is capable of carrying them into the bottom of that tier.)

If we include all those teams as “only need pretty decent QB play to compete” then what, are we saying one third of the league is a Super Bowl caliber team? Once you get to teams that basically have complete rosters / maybe only one or two holes, QB matters a lot at that point, so I define “SB caliber” differently I suppose.

To play devils advocate with my argument, we can remove the Vikings and Chargers because they choke, the Ravens because they’re always injured, the Bills cause the Jets just beat them with Zach Wilson, and the 49ers cause they are somehow doing all this with a stopgap at QB and idk how sustainable that is…

But that’s still 5 teams I thought equally as strong as the Jets WITH Rodgers, but with a QB who is better than Rodgers is now.

the long story short is I agree with @EntryLevelDave that Rodgers still wasn’t gonna win shit and the Jets were overhyped because of him, not because of their defense and weapons (which are appropriately rated)

 

they also don’t have to love each other, you ever have a hate f*ck grimace
