I agree with Jered on this one. i think this is something you talk about internally with the manager and not outward to the media. but also, growing up watching Verlander and Scherzer out there getting angry when they’re pulled with 100+ pitches, this mentality Kirby has is so weird to me. it’s not like he was at 120 pitches- this is 102.

Realistically, i think the Mariners bullpen has been questionable recently, and i think Servais probably just needed Kirby to keep going because of that. regardless, the guy is a borderline elite SP in the MLB, and maybe it’s a learning experience for Servais with him.

Didn’t realize the Braves are retiring Andruw’s number tonight. I don’t really think of him on the same level as the likes of Chipper and the big 3 pitchers for some reason but I guess he was in his own league defensively.

 

Hot take: people are WAY too uptight about retiring numbers. Borderline HOF and probably deserving pretty much solely on his Braves career. Def worthy of this

I absolutely think Andruw Jones the player deserves to have his number retired by Atlanta, dude was so fucking good for the first big chunk of his career. There probably aren’t more than 5 position players who’ve had a better career during their time spent in Atlanta (Hank, Chipper, Fred F., Dale, give Ronald another year). He was my favorite non Cardinal for years and years as a kid
