To keep it simple, there’s not a country in human history to root against more than the US in the 21st Century if you’re concerned with the autonomy of other people around the world. If you and the US are on the same side, and proposing the same solutions, you’re on the wrong side. Doesn’t mean you need to think Russia is good or something, or root for or otherwise aid them, but if what you’re saying needs to happen is the same thing as what Washington says needs to happen, then there’s no functional difference between what you want and US imperial interests. You might not be rooting for “invaders”, but American imperialism has largely evolved beyond the need for conventional invasion because they can more or less accomplish the same ends through more insidious means anyways.
