As it stands, Everton are set to lose (I'll put that mildly as I personally can't wait to see the back of them to varying levels) Iwobi, Doucoure and Gana for nothing in the summer. That's our "core" *laughs*

Considering the fact Onana is being played in several different roles to "train" as a 6, that's the Gana replacement sorted in theory. Garner as a 10 would be interesting. He'd surely be more creative than Doucs has ever been, he'd probably finish the chances Doucs gets, too. That said, I respect that he'd probably be more natural as an 8 next to Onana. In fact, I'd probably build the team around him as he's been fantastic given the circumstances.

As for the Iwobi replacement, surely even Everton can get better than a 6 goals in 120+ appearances "attacker"? Anyone who watches Iwobi on a regular basis will know that he's mostly toil, mostly where attacks go to die.

Add Dele, Gbamin and Gomes' huge wages off the books + Danjuma and Harrison's loans ending + Gray's imminent exit to Saudi Arabia and I actually have something to feel positive about going into 2024 (alongside the new stadium, of course).

Naturally, I hope we stay up but I guess what I'm trying to say is a "reset" is going to happen either way for Everton next summer.

Our XI if we stay up could look like:

    ------‐---------------Pickford-----‐--------------

    Patterson Tarkowski Branthwaite New

    ----------------------Onana--‐-----------
    -------------Garner-------New---------------

    New-------------------------------------McNeil

    ----------------------Beto---------‐-----------------

Beto is as good as confirmed so I've included him while Elvedi (RCB) and Bakayoko (RW) are heavily rumoured. I think that has the makings of a solid XI.

Good player but guy is an ass when he is not getting the playing time he thinks.

If Ajax sign Mikautadze, I doubt they'll go for Almada too. I could be wrong, but it would be totally unlike Ajax to spend big on two players in the same window. Its such a shame as I'd like to see Almada for a top European team.

Today’s grid is fun if you grew up on James Richardson presenting Football Italia.

Not too happy about missing Maddison this last weekend.

  8. My team started out rough but I've made a couple transfers and feel pretty good going forward.

I was thinking the league looks super competitive.

Week 4 and my team needs major surgery. Hoping to save my WC for another week.

Atleti 3-0 up. Genuinely thought Rayo would make more of a game of this. I guess Atleti are serious contenders this season?

Nunez is scoring more than Haaland this season

(He's not, but I hope it's a big year for him.)

  15. I didn’t know who Ange was 6 months ago. Now I’d fight for him lol and it’s because of quotes like this. Whether you’re watching his team play or listening to him speak, he leaves you wanting more. I hope this isn’t just a honeymoon phase.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I remain dead last, but I'm closing in on a few of you. Given the absolute shitastrophe I started with, I'm content to be clawing at coat tails.

iirc they were basically the best team in the league after Christmas last season. So I’m certainly hopeful that they can challenge.

Could just be that Rayo are a bit crap this year.

Rayo had won their first two games and had only lost 2 of their last 10 home games up until tonight.

  20. Welp. I’m not completely sold on him. But apparently it’s the RW Ange wants, so I’m good with it.

  21. Moved to the top of the FPL league despite Onana’s clunker. I’m going with Areola against Luton next week. No brainer.

The Times are reporting Smith-Rowe is available and has been offered to PL clubs, notably Chelsea. Arsenal's loss there imo.

If this happens I will be genuinely devastated. But I really doubt it.
