Yung Gravy using "Never Gonna Give You Up" is the most egregious recent example that come to mind for me

Jack Harlow's Glamorous sample is hilarious because for half of it he successfully fills in the spelling of the word with his own lyrics, so it's like a back and forth between him and Fergie. But then he just completely gives up on that idea halfway through lol

 

I think people are really forgetting just how close some of those Bad Boy or Trackmasters songs (I’m not talking about 90s sample beats in general but specifically about those) were to the original songs, many of which had only come out a decade or less before. HOWEVER, I will give you that a lot of the Bad Boy and Trackmasters songs were good, whereas a lot of these new ones aren’t.

Dear Diary… by From First To Last is one of the best debuts

 

Besides some very questionable lyrics, but they were like teens at the time

I remember being excited about the 2nd album but it just didn’t click with me

The one from self titled and one other album wasn't shitty, right? Those two albums are obviously their best anyway

Kurt was by far the best and I get why they didn't stay with him because he couldn't consistently hit the highs or get higher because he smoked a lot/other things, but Tillians voice gets so fucking grating when it's not super high.

As far as my knowledge on Tillian, I know very little of the situation and didn't mean to make a statement on it. One of their newer songs just came up on Spotify the other day and it just made me wish for Kurt. That was the only intent behind this.

Kurt seemed like the best person (and lyricist) by far but I didn’t like his vocals with DGD at all. I liked his time in ALLB better but he just doesn’t have a pleasant voice or singing style to me.

 

I always thought Kurt was the good one but people on the DGD subreddit were alluding to him being a shit head, without any actual details... But who knows how reliable that'll community actually is.

Anyway Tillian has way outlived his time as the vocalist regardless of the accusations, I'm a pretty easy DGD mark but Jackpot Juicer is the only album I've wanted to shut off not even halfway through it.

Andrew Wells is so clearly better and the only one doing anything tribute worthy on the new track

 

My favorite thing about that band is how willing they are to just keep going with so many different shitty people haha

 

Koi No Yokan and Diamond Eyes are the best Deftones albums (they’re all good aside from Adrenaline)

 

I put both in the lower half of their discography personally. Also loved my latest listen to Adrenaline, the riffs go so fucking hard.

 

Nothing touches ATF - S/T for me. That run is just so incredible.
