I watched The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, a great film in almost every single way other than how Finn’s character was handled and then further done worse in the final installment. Did you watch something different?

We could maybe just not be unbearable for a refreshing change of pace lol

 

not looking forward to all the TLJ discourse after that interview, however, very excited at the possibility of all the main characters from the sequels returning

 

Damn this Brothers episode is about as dark as the movie Brothers

 

I’m going to assume they were attached pre-strike and Disney just gave the trades this as some good PR?

 

Wake me up when theres a trailer in 5 years

A New Threat Emerges

"After the Rebels won, there were no more stormtroopers in my version of the third trilogy. I had planned for the first trilogy to be about the father, the second trilogy to be about the son, and the third trilogy to be about the daughter and the grandchildren."

"Episodes VII, VIll, and IX would take Ideas from what happened after the Iraq War...the stormtroopers refuse to give up when the Republic win. They want to be stormtroopers forever so they go to a far corner of the galaxy, start their own country, and their own rebellion."

Power Vacuum And Maul's Return

"Gangsters, like the Hutts, are taking advantage of the situation, and there is chaos. The key person Is Darth Maul, who had been resurrected in the Clone Wars cartoons - he brings all the gangs together. One is with a set of cybernetic legs like a spider, and then later on he has metal legs and he was a bit bigger, more of a superhero."

"Darth Maul trained a girl, Darth Talon, who was in the comic books, as his apprentice. She was the new Darth Vader, and most of the action was with her. So these were the two main villains of the trilogy. Maul eventually becomes the godfather of crime in the universe because, as the Empire falls, he takes over."

Luke Skywalker's Mission

"It starts out a few years after Return of the Jedi and we establish pretty quickly that there's this underworld, there are these offshoot stormtroopers who started their own planets, and that Luke is trying to restart the Jedi. He puts the word out, so out of 100,000 Jedi, maybe 50 or 100 are left."

"The Jedi have to grow again from scratch, so Luke has to find two- and three-year-olds and train them. It'll be 20 years before you have a new generation of Jedi."

The Chosen One

"The movies are about how Leia - I mean, who else is going to be the leader? - is trying to build the Republic. They still have the apparatus of the Republic but they have to get it under control from the gangsters. That was the main story."

"By the end of the trilogy, Luke would have rebuilt much of the Jedi, and we would have the renewal of the New Republic, with Lela, Senator Organa, becoming the Supreme Chancellor in charge of everything. So she ended up being the Chosen One."

 

I'm not confident that Lucas' version would've been better, but it at least would've been more cohesive than what we got.

 

The Leia stuff would have been really cool to see. Nice to have that confirmed after all this time too that she was indeed the chosen one.

 

We got some of that Maul stuff already in Clone Wars, plus his final arc in Rebels was pretty great.

Mando seems to be hinting at some of the power vacuum stuff that happened after the fall of the Empire, and the New Republics inability to get things in order. It also has shown the start of Luke beginning to restart the Jedi before its eventual fall in TFA.

The Leia stuff sounds cool and would have been nice to see.

But not surprising Disney didn't go with any of the Luke and Leia parts of this idea seeing as the actors were too old to be portraying themselves just a few years after ROTJ.

The story was different a few years ago. I think this is new story he just came up with.

I think this story would have been really good to unravel and see come to fruition…if Lucas stayed as a producer. Lucas is a great storyteller but not so great at directing.

 

Something changed at some point. Lucas had Luke going into exile, there was even some concept art.

 

Needs more midichlorians

 

Finally caught up on High Republic Phase 2. Overall really enjoyed it, especially the political side of things and the Force Religions/Cults. I do think they got a little bogged down with showing the same events from so many perspectives in so many titles (way too much Battle of Jedha & even Night of Sorrows to a lesser extent). Definitely enjoyed a lot of the backstory and can’t wait for Phase 3 and meet up with some old friends again!

 

I have cataclysm on my shelf and need to get to it

 

Just gotta build the dark trooper then they'll all be done

 

Finally about to finish season 5 of Clone Wars and I gotta say every episode after the droid arc is straight fire. It’s like almost 100% a different show from every episode before them
