They want that sweet sweet VOD money which they get a bigger chunk of than theatrical. Its better than going to MAX after just 45 days. But agreed, this should have gotten a 90 day exclusive theatrical window

It should beat Mario by the time it’s on VOD, but if this news slows down the box office they have themselves to blame

It was a clip of Theo Von talking about how he hadn’t seen the movie, and the person quote tweeting him was saying how it was funny because he sounds like a southern damsel

Not sure about the US, but its overseas run doesn’t seem to be losing any momentum. It will still be showing here well into middle/late September.

Finally got around to seeing this. So much dry humor that hits the mark. A lot of these comedies can start to drag out but this kept its momentum.

When was the last time we had 2 blockbusters both knock it out of the park at the same time?

I would actually even go as far as to say this is the rare comedy where the third act is the strongest

I know it is a movie about a literal product, but the constant need to display the Chevy logo was a little much for me.

So glad the good movie-based-on-a-toy beat the ok movie-based-on-a-video-game.

Really, though, wouldn’t be mad at Greta Gerwig having the highest grossing film of an entire calendar year!

Hardcoded korean subs though. Official release is Tuesday if you’re able to wait a little longer

I still laugh thinking about the scene where Ferrell is panicking because he doesn’t know how to use a key badge and he becomes relieved to know he can just push the door open. The most I’ve enjoyed him since Step Brothers.

They pushed the VOD release. It’s supposed to come out 9/12 now

Not surprising. There's still nearly sold-out showings around me.

Agreed, and that's one trend in movies that unfortunately is here to stay. If less people see movies out, and streaming has eliminated ads, they need to be ingrained in the movie. This one was as egregious as JP was with the Mercedes. but because it's on actual roads in a city, it legit felt like a car commercial for a few moments.

It's good though that that was truly the only part of the movie I didn't like and ultimately isn't a reflection on the quality of the movie at all. But yeah, the way it was shot was so obvious it was promoting chevy.

A shame. I was going to show it after testing tomorrow.
