Shanahan is an excellent head coach

teams are going to miss on players and picks, he's still led that team to be very good despite their misses, he brings in quality assistants that go on to be head coaches, has relevant schemes in today's NFL, etc etc

He's one of the best in the league, can't bluff me

 

okay but here you kind of are but I'm sure it's without realizing it. You're comparing Fields to Tannehill - Tannehill was a RECEIVER. He played QB for two years before going into the NFL and one of them he didn't eclipse 1,650 yards. Fields went 41:3 TD:INT one year in the Big Ten - Tannehill couldn't get a 2:1 ratio in the Big 12.

I just explained that I think Fields is better than that, and Tannehill was just an example of how even if a guy is a PROJECT in all capital letters, they can still work out if they go to a stable franchise (like Tannehill eventually did when he went to the Titans)

I was illustrating the idea that, obviously there are white QBs who are in the project narrative as well, and worse QB than Fields have developed before (such as Tannehill) so it’s not me saying he CANT.

It’s just, he needs the right situation, cause there’s a million ways to fuck up a play and if your team / coach doesn’t truly understand advanced passing then how are they gonna teach their QB how to do it? If the route is slightly off or the timing of the play isn’t right then it’s real hard to learn how to throw within those parameters

 

We just disagree on what constitutes a project QB. To me it's the difference between the league learning curve and the positional learning curve. Are you teaching this guy how to play QB in the NFL (Lamar Jackson) or are you teaching him how to play QB (Josh Allen)?

 

Dude has gotten so many passes at, despite poor management at QB and poor in-game decision making regarding time management and fourth downs. His teams are regularly ravaged by injuries and excuses are just made for them. They either make a playoff run or they fail to even finish .500

 

Irsay really burning that team to the ground. Hate to see it.

 

So he's either elite or his QB is a third stringer

or in this case now BOTH

 

How is it his fault players are getting hurt?

 

Is he not the head coach? Does he suddenly get no say in the medical staff?

fire that entire medical team, John’s Hopkins AND University of Maryland’s medical system are both literally RIGHT there.

 

Trading up for Aiyuk and putting him in his doghouse one year later is a bad look. He traded up for Trey Sermon and put him in the doghouse almost immediately.

 

Having a 13 win season and going to the NFCGG with a 3rd string Mr. Irrelevant rookie is an extremely good look however

 

Tbh id wager the Ravens could’ve won another Super Bowl post-Flacco if they did well with injuries

they and the 49ers have both hamstrung (pun intended) themselves with bonkers amounts of bad injuries
