Have on my bucket list winning one of the tickets to view the synchronized firefly event that happens in the Smokey Mountains during a certain time of the year. Think its only like one of two locations in the world that this happens.

Folks, I am now 0-2 on home inspections in the past year.

We put another offer on a home last week and felt pretty good about it. We were aware that the home was a past foreclosure, and recently bought by a flipper (who, on the surface did a really nice job flipping it). The flipper disclosed all the past problems with the home (basement flooded, which led to mold, which led to mold remediation). He sent us the paperwork/receipt from the company that did the mold remediation. I even called the company and asked them to walk me through what they did, which they told me. I felt comfortable with everything to continue with our offer (contingent on home inspection and air quality test)

Home inspector could still find mold all throughout the basement, including mold growing on the 'new' part of the basement that the flipper had just installed within the past year. Home inspector said seller definitely got ripped off (the receipt was for $22K) and we saw enough red flags that we pulled the offer.

    I ain't ever moving...

Really tired of being told basic shit like education and healthcare is affordable when it’s not by these centrist assholes.

I applied for the save plan and I wasn’t able to enter any info on how much I pay in housing, food, child support, or daycare expenses. So how the fuck exactly are they calculating my “discretionary” income?

This is my fucking question as well. I am so fucking confused and the my listed monthly payment for SAVE is currently more than my current plan is.

"Discretionary income is based on the Federal Poverty Level for your family size. It takes none of your actual expenses into account. That is true for all IDR plans currently and the SAVE plan which replaces REPAYE."

So yeah that is just a bullshit talking point for when it drops to 5% of discretionary next year but even then it's fucking stupid.

Sounds like a ton of people are having issues with SAVE playing showing higher payments then expected and having to call the servicers themselves. This seems to be getting something reset and people getting payment amounts closer to what was expected. Great fucking system here but probably will try this route.

One of the many comments on the Reddit subreddit having this issue.

If you want to try to calculate it by hand this seems to be the method.

And this is why it absolutely floored me when people were waving inspections last year/2021. Sorry to hear about that though. You'll find the right place soon enough and it will all work out!

So lazy, they need to at least take cost of living geographically into account if they want to even pretend to be serious about this imo

Agreed, though if I do this calculation it puts my payment lower then my current plan, so something on the backend is causing shit to be wrong. This will actually make my payment like roughly $40-$60 bucks lower than my current plan plus it sunsets sooner if I still have a balance.
