they’re normally pretty good with extensions tbh. Cheap AF in free agency, but normally they pay their dudes

Nyheim Hines, Shaq Leonard, Kenny Moore, Grover Stewart, Quentin Nelson, Ryan Kelly, and Braden Smith all come to mind in recent years of players who got pretty handsomely compensated with extensions that often came with more than a year left on the contract. Also the sign-and-trade for DeFo

feels like this one is just a mix of bad timing (don’t want to extend anyone coming off of a shit season with a new HC in tow, and JT hasn’t exactly endeared himself to the new staff), bad market, and that JT + agent took that poorly and got themselves into a pissing match with Irsay, whose default is to act like a toddler and throw a tantrum, so things escalated poorly and quickly

yes, but all those other dudes got extensions without Jim Irsay feeling the need to take an interview and say that no one would care if the player in question retires because the NFL rolls on

trying to make it clear that I’m not defending Irsay, but that normally BAU allows for Irsay to be his erratic self but take credit for his homegrown talent and call himself the best owner instead of having a public meltdown instead like the past 18 months have been
