I wonder if Pep tries dropping Foden centrally? I have been wanting this for a season of two now.

Did I miss something? Why does Neymar hate Xavi?

To be fair, you absolutely controlled the game v Burnley for 60 minutes + without KDB. I still can't see the lesser teams being a problem for you guys, especially in the league. Newcastle will pose a threat this weekend but I still feel City will have enough at home. At worst, you might revert to being a counter-attacking side and utilising Haaland like he was at Dortmund. You've got the strength in depth in defence to try that although I'd seriously doubt Pep goes to that extreme when his bread and butter is possession based football.

My guess is it’s because Xavi publicly said he didn’t want Neymar this window.

There is a good piece on the Athletic on what Burnley was trying to do and what I think we are going to see teams not do and that is try to press Ederson when gets the ball. Burnley just let him sit there and it really worked until we went more route 1. I honestly think with a midfield of Kovecic and Rodri is going to have some rough spots, mainly from Kovecic just being a new player in Pep's system. There is just a lot of new even with players that have been here, because from the changes from last season and just Pep being Pep, roles are going to be tinkered with and learned. Think we get there by the end of the season but it's going to be an interesting start.

Some folks forget Bernardo Silva was a fantastic playmaker whilst at Monaco, too. He's a candidate to replace KDB.

Hope he drops all pretence about valuing his United career and England spot. He's 5th choice CB, been stripped of the captaincy, and (though I disagree with it) gets booed every time he plays.

If it's a wage thing (rumours United would have needed to pay off a portion of his contract for him to leave) then fair enough, but definitely not about ambition or play time.

Nice! Where are your seats? The Shed End is where the atmosphere is if that's your sort of thing.

Would have loved to sat Shed End, going with a bit of a group and it felt like going hospitality package was the easiest way to get tickets as a non-member American, so sitting East Stand but the amenities seem nice and just excited to be in the building really

Panathinaikos just knocked Marseille out of the Champions League qualifiers on penalties at the Velodrome. Huge result for Greek football/ even more drama for French football.

  20. Both Leagues Cup games tonight are gonna be bangers.

  21. I heard on a podcast that Ivan Toney can start training with his team during the second half of his suspension, which would be mid-September, I think. I wonder if a team tries to sign him now so they can familiarize him with the club/system before his return in January. Spurs obviously make a lot of sense in that scenario.

How much would he likely cost?

I’ve always liked Yedlin, but it’s very funny to watch him play alongside Messi and Busquets

That Jordi Alba run and goal was so damn good, but Philly had like six players that could’ve stopped it with an ounce of effort.
