And “one kind of cuisine”? Dude, even Creole and Cajun food are different things, let ALONE how renowned New Orleans is for dining in general. Sure, the neighborhood pubs and diners all serve one of the former cuisines, just like Baltimore pubs and diners all serve MD style seafood. But that says nothing about the actual nice restaurant scene

Trying to act like NOLA does not have diverse food and music is just not a good take lol

 

I'd also consider crime to be a negative when looking at cities. And being able to "always avoid it" has other implications that aren't great either. Idk that NOLA is that kind of place or not, just speaking generally.

Dude Nashville has one of the most active DIY indie / alt / punk scenes in the country, you sound like you only ever went to Broadway. East Nashville has a real high concentration of music venues and country is one of the last things you’ll hear in that area. The people there HATE the stigma of Nashville being a country town and not just a music city in general. Historically it is. But now that’s just all marketing

And let’s not also forget that it is a haven for record labels, recording studios and producers, obviously they’re not all doing country either

Thats just Nashville. Now apppy that same logic to your myopic view of NOLA lol

 

Like, maybe don’t just do touristy things when you go to these cities lol

 

I tried gator in Nola and that was good

 

Does that make it better than other cities???

 

Gator is great.

 

I had a friend forbid me from getting deep dish pizza in Chicago because it was too touristy.

Touristy things can be fun lol

I think every city has a similarly uncomfortable amount of random violent crime, and the varying levels of *targeted* violent crime (for example, most of the murders in a city’s murder rate) do not involve any privileged people who didn’t grow up in the ghetto

yeah but it’s all marketing and doesn’t actually tell you what the locals enjoy and how they live. That’s actual culture
