this is great. like it about as much as sure and certain. you with me still the best of what ive heard

 

i think you are free is less CTL and more futures, although the drums are much bigger than the drums on futures

 

Totally agree. I think it's VERY Futures-esque.. especially the chorus. Might be why I like it so much haha

 

spent about an hour in the car today and jammed CTL the whole time. cannot fucking wait until next friday.

I feel like listening to You Are Free will take away some major impact of my eventual full listen of this album, assuming it's as good/standout as everyone has said.

 

so i just listened to the studio version of you are free, and its seems to be missing that top clean riff
that tom did in the live version and its realy annoying me idk why theyd leave that out
the chorus feels like its lacking something other than that the song is real good

 

they're looking for a local Cincinnati band to open for them in a few days. how about the national...

 

I don't think You Are Free is missing literally anything

You Are Free is incredible. I wasn't going to listen, but I gave in.

 

I don't think it's missing anything either. The whole song sounds huge. The lead guitar part from the live version is definitely not as prominent in the studio version but it's definitely there. Can't recall at the moment but it might come in at the second chorus

 

i mentioned toms melody missing too. makes it sound darker

 

I know I don't know any of these guys personally, but they seem like really nice guys, they're all really good looking dudes as someone else pointed out terribly, they seem incredibly down to earth, and they are still cranking out great albums 23 years in. These guys are doing something right, clearly. It's pretty amazing. Cannot wait to hear this album.

Glad everyone seems to enjoy YAF. It's such a perfect jimmy Eat World single to me

 

Do you recommend actually listening to it by itself or nah?

 

I think so, yeah. I think it works well as a standalone. I think almost everything on the album does
