I vividly remember reading that the summer it came out and trying to explain/defend to my dad that it was a really good, well-written book, and him having watched the movie and hated it enough to end his 20+ yrs of Star Wars enjoyment and not wanting to discourage his kid reading, but also semi-nicely trying to explain that there are tons of actual legit good books out there to read haha

Ooooh nice, I've never read that one. I'll have to pick it up. Maybe it'll help me finally understand what was going on during those scenes when The Hulk was fighting stuff at night.

okay I’ll bite, what’s a “book”?

 

My ex’s niece is 17 or 18 and didn’t watch any TV or movies or read. She was just on her phone all day long.

My sister bought me the novelization of Snakes On a Plane for my birthday after the movie came out. I never finished it but would occasionally read parts of it on the train, and was surprised I didn't get more looks/comments.

Also, I rarely watch movies, especially in the theaters. It's rare when I have 2+ hours to sit down and just watch something, and going to the theater is too expensive when you factor in the cost of a babysitter, etc. My kids are getting to the age where they can go see some things, we saw The Little Mermaid back in June, but there are few kids movies I want to go see in the theater.

This is exactly why I was so excited to go see Indiana Jones with my son a few weeks ago - it was my first time going to the movie theater in several years, and I was a person who saw everything that came out at the theater when I was younger, plus it was a movie we both genuinely wanted to watch.
