Do you think the left's hammering on how "this isn't locker room talk and I don't hear men talk like this" is helping or hurting things? It seems to be driven out of fear that admitting that Trump's comments are shockingly normal would make it harder to convince people they are wrong, but in doing so doesn't it downplay the existence of rape culture to an extent?

 

Quite honestly, I've seen some of that, but people, and women specifically, are quick to point out the ways in which rape and assault have been normalized throughout our culture, such that Trump's comments are heard in everyday conversation. I think what they're trying to do it cast it as abnormal, to delegitimize it, but it doesn't work like that. I see much more of the former than the latter in my experience.

 

What about Melania? How is she staying out of all this? If my wife heard of ANY attempt by myself to get with another woman it'd be devastating to our marriage...I understand they're in the public eye and all, but this has to be so hard on her. Wonder how Trump would react if she said a single thing to the media?

 

Has she said anything since the convention? After the whole plagiarizing thing, and then the immigration questions, I've only seen a few written statements. I dunno, if it was me I'd want nothing to do with the media or have to talk to anyone about my husband being a piece of shit.
