I'm not really sure where AJ is at. I don't know what happened to Matt other than hearing the SA allegations. Both of them are people I love that write great music, but let's just say... I don't agree with the way they live their lives and the type of relationships they have with people who are close to them. I wouldn't be able to be personally invested in their future and success unless there was a major change in lifestyle and approach to making music. I love them, and I hear their potential, but its short sighted and demoralizing. AJ stated in the past he sent songs to me and that I told him to keep writing... and he didn't like the answer. So he made those songs into records that clearly didn't perform well and haven't been received well. Point is, my attempts to help are instead seen as "He doesn't get it" instead of trying to look inward and upwards and trying to make a valid contribution to the world with the opportunity they have. The Ben scenario was very upsetting. I don't know how I could feel stoked about working on AJ's songs without him on drums.

There's a lot of fractures there that I don't see being repaired. AJ has gone on to try and steer people away from working with me while attempting to remain cool and casual with me. They just unfortunately aren't the people that we all think they are and want them to be. Thankfully I learned that hard lesson with TSSF earlier and was able to identify it here and feel comfortable walking away from it knowing I put all of myself into their album and did the best I could with the tools time and talent I had access to. I'm pretty sure my journey with them stopped there.

 

I had no idea about allegations against Matt. Damn

Oh, is that why that happened? I don’t recall seeing why that happened.

 

The allegations are also new to me. I guess that’s why he’s been quiet on the TDS front for awhile now. That’s so fucked

 

I mean their drummer quit very suddenly halfway through the tour and then they got kicked off, we definitely didn’t assume good things were happening.

Yeah I think the assumption (and even rumors) were that the drummer was the one that did something (not assault but just that something had happened)

Welp, some disappointing shit to read in here.

 

I don’t know details. But from what I gathered although I’ve never met him apparently the new drummer is a good guy and left because of the SA scenario. The other bands on the tour said you have to go home and were instead presented with a “What if Matt leaves can we still do the tour?” And they all said no. So it seems that Matt got the boot, the label told AJ to remove the post and Matt and stay quiet and let it blow over so that everyone here doesn’t know this happened. But now that Matt’s not in the band the new drummer is back?

Allegedly all of this went down at an emo nite that everyone who mattered was at and they made fools of themselves and got themselves kicked off their own headliner.

 

Also it’s ironic how now that it’s been a few years and people are starting to see this clear evidence… people aren’t gaslighting me acting like I’m some disgruntled guy who is here to slander any band that chooses not to work with me again…

 

I mean, I used to see band members doing various drugs on Instagram with seemingly no hesitation or thought to what they were showing their fan base that has younger people in it. Or videos of them at a show telling everyone to party with them afterwards. Just not a lot of good decisions from what I could see.

Nothing really surprises me about this band now.

 

Guess I didn’t realize Matt was out of the band?? Most of all I feel for the victim. This band is always a hurricane.

 

So Matt isn't in the band? So it's just AJ and he has brought back the drummer from Comig Home?
I only got into the band because of Mother Nature and can't keep up with all the drama over the years but obviously this latest allegation is another level.
What a shame. With the right attitudes and the right assistance the band put out 3 great records. Can't get out of their own way.
I hope the victim is okay.

This sucks. I’ve always loved AJ’s work (still do) but they just can’t seem to figure it out as a band.

 

All horrible to hear. I looked at Matt's IG and it still says Dangerous Summer guitarist and he has the TDS website link in his bio.

 

He hasn’t promoted anything band related for months though. And as far as I’m aware, never posted studio stuff when AJ was doing it

 

I mean, wasn’t this new album recorded before Coming Home even came out?

 

Oh maybe, I don’t remember now. Either way he’s never posted a single thing about the reimagined songs or the new tour either, so I’ve thought something was up for awhile. Just never expected this

 

Woah, this is all blowing my mind. I had no idea about sexual assault, I had no idea Matt got the boot.
That's very upsetting to hear. Especially when you pile on the fact that they're now touring with Emarosa. So they kicked out a member to distance themselves from sexual assault allegations, but then immediately jump on a tour with an artist who also has SA allegations?

 

Band is an absolute mess. It’s really impossible to ignore at this point

 

A. Holy shit about the drugging allegations, what the hell

B. Reading further into that thread and just based on what we all know I’m starting to think TDS is nothing more than a vehicle to fund AJ’s alcoholism and drug addiction. which just makes me unbelievably sad as someone in recovery. it’s not sustainable and he’s gonna be dead by 40 at this rate easy.

 

I guess the obvious thing to show Matt is not in the band is he wasn't at the q&a the other day, and he was always on those, even if it was a zoom call
