One of the most popular competitive tactics in super smash is wave dashing, which is basically taking advantage of a glitch to have a way faster alternative to shielding and rolling. So like, it’s a game you can manipulate to move around like crazy and be really unpredictable. I like how whimsical the old Smash games are haha

I also love Smash because the stupidest fucking characters can strike fear into your heart. Someone pulls up with Ice Climbers or Ness and I know I'm about to have a terrible experience

 

I could see him not being easy to use competitively because his wave dash is kinda weak and he doesn’t really float in the air very long compared to others,

Im a little biased cause I’ve known a guy who placed 2nd in a Maryland Melee competition who loved Link and knew how to make him fast and disruptive af. So that plus his power / his many KO-potential moves made it pretty lethal. Dude used to be a WALL with the aerial boot-kick attack

I agree with that S tier though, going up against someone who really knows how to use Marth or Jigglypuff is impossible

 

I don't watch much competitive gaming, like competitive smash doesn't do much for me but I caught a rocket league tourny the other night and it ruled pretty hard

I recently got into Elden Ring bingo tournaments which are fun

And also GDQ stuff that you got me hooked on

 

I specifically like Melee cause it’s the fastest physics engine and it’s a lot of emphasis on instant reflexes and fight/flight response

I don’t think I’m as good at the slower games

but also the most normal characters are frustrating too. Mario is an great defensive character imo, he is capable of interrupting and countering every single thing you try to do to him if you’re playing someone who has that sort of Kung Fu reflexes with video games
