I haven't listened to this band since they dropped Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu, which I remember loving, so I thought I'd do a discography run to get a better sense of their evolution first. Holy hell is their very early stuff (The Way We Talk EP) such a timecapsule to the point I'm almost getting nostalgic for a style I wasn't particularly big on back then. Maybe I actually was a neon emo pop/pop punk kid at heart.

 

First two tracks off that EP are great.

 

Looks like the tour gets announced for 1pm ET tomorrow…

 

I hope they come thru Abq, I’m sure they won’t, but I can dream haha

 

Forgive me if anyone has mentioned this already, but has anyone had a shipping notification for their vinyl yet?

“spiraling” is really good. like an end credits song. i don’t get the hate at all

 

the fake imagine dragons songs from the last record are much worse (and i think they’re perfectly ok)

 

I don't hate "spiraling" but I do think it's bland and faceless. Like I said in my other comment, it feels like any band could have written it and misses that spark that makes a The Maine song special. Which is especially weird because the band has been known for good closers since Pioneer at least.

 

Do we think this is an Eras-style tour?

 

cars & caution signs has become a favorite of mine, it was a huge part of the soundtrack of a very long road trip through colorado and wyoming this past week

 

Literally an escape soundtrack of sorts, love that

 

Me and all my friends will be there

 

But will it be 3 hours long like Taylor

 

I imagine a 2 hour setlist with 1 opener, but I’m not a professional

 

I'm curious who the opener(s) is going to be. Also, this is a cool idea but I hope they play a lot of the new album and not just a few songs.

 

As much as I love this band and understand their desire to give the older fanbase what they want, I'm really hoping there's not more than 1 or 2 songs from each of the first four albums on the setlist. I need to hear more from American Candy - present. Last time they played Portland was The Mirror tour supporting You Are OK. They played 1 song from each of the first four albums, 2 from AC, and leaned heavy on LLL and YAO. Now they've got XOXO that we didn't get a tour date for, so fingers crossed they lean heavier on the latter half of their catalog.

 

Crazy to me they just released the album and won’t be touring on it for 3 months, kills all the buzz you currently have…

 

Jared’s getting married in France next month probably has something to do with it.
