So, uh, I’ve seen the original series and FWWM three times and The Return twice. I’ve never checked out Missing Pieces. I didn’t realize how important it is. I’ll check it out.

Uhhhh I’ve been doing a deep dive into the Secret History of Twin Peaks and it’s strongly hinted Donald Trump wore the ring in the mid 90’s, so between season 2 and The Return

Yeah, I'll admit that kind of skeeved me out when I read it. I don't need that loathsome bigot in any of my media, even if it's a jab like it was in the book.

The episode where Dougie hits it off with the casino brothers and they have pie while the piano player goes off was so heartwarming. I love how he is gradually coming back to life thanks to coffee and pie

Finally finished The Return last night. So much to try and process. Feel like I have a lot of homework but in a good way.

I found this book Pines, part one of a trilogy. I guess there’s a TV series of it too. It sounds a lot like Twin Peaks.

After watching Oppenheimer and hearing people comparing the Trinity scene to the Twin Peaks Trinity scene, it convinced me to try and finally watch this show. I’ve seen the pilot once or twice before but couldn’t get invested enough to continue. This time I did, and wow what an experience!

It did take me awhile to get through the first two seasons as I was watching it casually realizing that the show was more about setting a mood/tone then answering questions. But there are so many iconic scenes! I was really bored and annoyed with James and was pleasantly surprised to find that I wasn’t the only one! The whole Evelyn subplot was when I was like, “Ok what is going on why is this important??” and losing my patience but I stayed on. That last episode of S2 was a total mindfuck but I loved the boldness and how Lynch simply didn’t give a f. That last scene with Dale/Bob laughing maniacally was so haunting I can’t imagine what the viewers watching it when it came out must have felt. And the “25 years” line got me so excited!

FWWM was one messed up film, but definitely the Lynch I remember from his other movies. A random thing I thought was hilarious was after Bobby kills the guy Laura screams in terror but then suddenly switches to laughing her ass off at him, “Bobby you killed someone lolololl!!” And Bobby’s just like “shut up!” And then again the same thing the next day at school.

Missing Pieces was also so essential, I can’t believe they deleted that insane Bowie traveling through space (and time? After seeing the calendar and saying “February” if I remember correctly on Gordon’s desk)

The Return was just as good as everyone says it was, I wanted good Coop to come back asap but I appreciated how fun harmless and endearing Dougie came to be compared to Mr C’s hardcoreness. (Killed Briggs? Abused Audrey who loved Dale which i assume he used against her holy shit) the entity massacring those 2, what happened to the security guard? Creeepy. There’s honestly so much to comment on but was so happy for Big Ed/Norma, Audrey in a coma??, was Dougie returning to his family real? So a different person than Cooper? When Cooper went back in time to save Laura was so amazing, I loved that until the scream and then the last episode where the weirdness turned up again, but it felt very appropriate considering S2’s finale that had us waiting 25 years!!

I knew I had to watch this series one day and always planned to and am so glad I finally did! I truly hope Lynch decides to come back to this world one more time, still so many questions! But if that was the point then so be it.

Reading through this entire thread while watching the return was fun, but so sad to see so many of the cast pass away, may they all rest in peace

and I’ll end this post with an inside joke I made with myself watching almost every episode (and perfectly culminating with the one armed man’s last line in the last ep!)

    E-LECT-TRICITY!!!

  17. I've been itching for a series rewatch and Alan Wake 2 is going to push me over the edge.

Also, I've never watched Missing Pieces. Should that be done after FWWM, so S1 > S2 > FWWM > MP > The Return?

Yep, exactly. I didn’t watch MP until recently and it wouldn’t have made sense if I didn’t see FWWM.

two recent articles. devastating to know Lynch is not in retirement but instead very active and struggling to have his work find a home.

this one was also just interesting bc we don't usually hear as much about/from Frost. the media and contemporary discourse often paints one vs the other but Frost clearly admires Lynch as a creative partner and it sounds like he had a major role writing s3 despite most thinking it as Lynch's baby
