i've never been to pittsburgh but it sounds like a mountain of fun

i'd live in portland too, i'd live in nashville but only east nashville. i also have a very srtrong love for new orleans and i think even the annual threat of destruction would not be big enough to make me not want to live there. i don't think i'd wanna live in seattle, extremely "a place i like to visit for a few days".

I like all these places. Pretty much agree with this post, the only thing I'd add is that as a POC i find that the representation in Nashville and Portland is severely lacking & that can cause a lot of subtle differences in the way people treat me there

 

Nawlins is great. The hurricane flood / sea level rising risk is the only reason I didn't seriously consider just moving there instead

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Portland's brand of liberalism. I'd put up with it though because it's by far the best place in the country for celiacs.

I also wanna say that Portland and Seattle's cost kinda undermines the "liberal paradise" they market themselves as haha.

But I can still like a place despite that.

See: DC - gentrified af, bougie, every bar/restaurant is like "damn even a Corona is $7??" but i enjoy going there for the experience if I have a little extra to spend cause the restaurants admittedly ARE very good and the gentrified neighborhoods admittedly ARE very cute

fuckin costs more than the whole house in the suburbs of DC lol (but that house was cheap cause it was oil heat and old and right off the highway and not that well maintained)
