Hasn't the number of jobs we're adding each month been dropping? That's not great news, as it shows things are slowing down. Whereas if the number had previously been lower then the fact that's its increasing would be good news.

I don't really know what the trends are for all those past cases. But I don't think its simple as just looking at the one number.

The Bible says to not do that. Well, technically since that’s not a church service, it doesn’t. But logically, if you follow the Bible, one would assume if it’s not supposed to happen in church, it doesn’t make sense to allow it in another gathering.

The amount of money being spent in equipment/construction in the manufacturing sector is insane right now, like I think its the highest its been in a long time. Fueled by the CHIPS Act and IRA to be clear. Now a lot of those plants are still going to take time to come online but some of them are I think are starting to get closer (though I have also read they are struggling to find skilled labor in some of these places). From what I am seeing the outlook for demand and orders is still considered strong but interest rates are really dragging down spending (business) in other areas where the Fed has not injected dollars.

Though we are starting to see type of spending get back to pre-pandemic style of spending with more on travel/experiences then long lasting manufactured goods though.

    Ugh.

But let it be a gentle reminder for everyone here that it's a good idea to talk to your parents now and come up with a plan for you or your siblings to get power of attorney. It makes things much easier once they get older and have health issues to get them the help they need.

Listen, Feinstein needs to go, but having a POA is not weird for someone her age. I was my mom’s for the past 8 years. And she had no cognitive issues. It’s just that my dad had already died and she needed someone who could legally do things if she was incapacitated, yet alive.

Yes. But also if someone is in a coma or whatever. Sometimes things need done and it’s way easier to have a POA ready to go because you never know when something could happen. Like, my mom died suddenly in a seven hour window with no warning. Thank god she had a Will all set up. It took a lot of decisions out of our hands so we didn’t have to think about them. The POA aspect was pointless once it happened so quickly. I acted as medical surrogate more than POA that day.

I’m so grateful my mom was prepared.

Yeah, I edited to say health issues in general, lots more can happen than just dementia, that was just what my family had to deal with and it made it so much harder for one our grandparents that we didn't have POA for.

Oh man, that could be awful. If they refuse to set a POA up, that could get so messy and stressful.

Yeah I need to talk to my parents about refining their will a bit since my only sibling (brother) and I have not spoke in like a year and don't think there is any plan to. Want to take any possible bullshit conflict as possible out of it.

also lol it’s funny knowing there are reporters camped out on that bike trail. Hard to tell exactly where they are but it looks far enough in that the flies and bugs have to be terrible

Make sure their home isn’t given to anyone. If so, if someone sells it, it can all be taxed. If it’s just left to the estate to be sold, the only taxable money is from money that goes over what the house was set at. Waaaaay less taxes.

Obviously our situation is different, but my sister and I are both personal reps for my mom and I hadn’t spoken to my sister in 15 years. It has mostly gone really well. There was an issue last week, so I’m a bit soured on it now. But ultimately, we are working together on things and her being across the country probably helps. I’m still upset about the thing last week, but she’s none the wiser. It’s a complex situation and I just don’t need to complicate anything. The whole process is a fucking nightmare with issues after issue and delay after delay. I have to go to the bank to fix something on the estate account that was the bank’s fault.

Hopefully you won’t have to deal with any of this for a long ass time.
