nah I stopped after bowser is yoshi in it?

 

You hear him. I think you see an egg cracking first? Then it zooms in(?) and you just hear him go, “yoshi!”

Guess we will have to wait for the sequel.

 

this is real good for what it is. few complaints here and there, like the use of licensed music is beyond stupid and a lot of the writing is cringe inducing illumination fodder but other than that it’s a good time

 

you mean you didn’t like hearing Sabotage for the 9 billionth time in the last two years?

 

no offense to the beastie boys both dead and alive but if I hear another one of their songs used in tv or movies I might [redacted]

 

as a jew i’m compelled to love them but they have like 200 songs im begging directors to stop using the same 2 lol

 

directors listen to more than 2 songs by any artist challenge (impossible)

 

Hopefully Nintendo/Illumination hear the feedback about the dislike of licensed music being in the film and don’t use any in the sequel or whatever film is next.

The licensed music is so bad in this if every single one is removed this movie goes up at least a whole star

The movie just passed $100 million in Japan making it the highest Universal film and 6th highest grossing Hollywood film in Japan.

 

Watching this for the first time. The pace of this is way too fast. The animation is stunning. I don't like how of the first 15 minutes was spoiled by the trailers/previews.

 

So the sequel to this has got to be Galaxy right? I mean they teased it pretty hard with the Luma and Peach talking about "there being a big wide galaxy out there" .

I can also see them doing something with Super Mario Land stuff, where they introduce Daisy and Wario.

 

The history the relationship between Nintendo and Universal is actually quite long and fascinating, with ups and downs.

Crazy that this all started when Universal sued (and lost) Nintendo in federal court over copyright infringement in 1983, and now 40 years later both companies are as thick as thieves.

Technically Universal's first Nintendo movie was 1989's The Wizard.

 

The Power Glove. It's so bad.

 

I have a feeling the Peach spinoff movie is gonna be involving Rosalina/Galaxy stuff with Peach discovering her origins. I think SMBM 2 should be about Wario as the antagonist.

Sequel officially announced today on Mario Day. Releasing April 3, 2026

 

Wonder where they’ll take the story. Maybe to yoshi’s island?

 

Probably explore Peach’s origin to some extent.

 

Should follow the games and bring back Wart.
