    hate my favorite band

I really liked how he did that scene with Jean and making you suspicious of what really happened. Somehow all my friends missed the whole gloved hand holding her down shot. So it’s nice to see someone else allude to it so I know I’m not too crazy. Lol

This was a good movie, I really enjoyed the tense scenes and I had no issue with the bomb scene it was great.

But this didn't need to be a 3 hour movie. I don't know if there is a 3 hour movie out there that actually needs to be that long. Some scenes dragged a bit and I felt myself losing focus a couple times. I also agree with an earlier comment in this thread that it was a little tough following all the different characters and remembering who they were and what their significance was. By the end of the movie it became much easier to understand it all but still.

The three hours flew by for me. Give me the four hour cut.

I am all for Hollywood producing far more 90 minute movies. Most of these summer movies pushing 2 and a half hours or more should be cut down at the script level. It would make for tighter (likely stronger) movies and save millions in production.

    But Oppenheimer is the exception.

I…am having a very strange realization now, upon reading about the glove, that I’m actually positive I did see the glove for a split second and wondered what I was looking at very briefly, but then quickly accepted her death as a suicide and excised that image entirely until just now reading about the glove in here and my brain is like yes, I am constantly trying to tell you things and you don’t listen to me what is wrong with you.

Anyway, I saw it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it, though I do also agree that it got confusing at times trying to follow all the names and timeline jumping and the occasional feeling that I was watching a really long montage. I do wish I’d read up a bit on who all of these people were so that I might be able to follow it a little easier.

I also had a very frustrating theatrical experience wherein, about five minutes into the movie, a group of teenage boys VERY clearly snuck into the movie and sat in the row right in front of me and proceeded to be loud and obnoxious for the next hour. They were making loud, dumb jokes, sitting on each other’s laps and making stupid fake laughing noises, got on their phones and took pictures and videos of themselves using TikTok filters, etc. all while people around them continued to ask them to shut the fuck up. My wife finally had it, stood up behind them, counted their seat numbers with her fingers so they would see her doing it, and then walked out to go let one of the workers know. The moment she walked out, three of the boys fucking ran for their lives while two of them stayed behind and suddenly got very still. One of the workers came in and just stood by the wall staring them down while I could see them visibly sinking in their seats. She eventually walked away because they were at least being momentarily silent and I had a feeling she knew they’d leave the moment she walked away, which is absolutely what they did. But then like three minutes later those two walked back in, got on their knees, turned on their phone camera flashlights, and began digging around for something one of the boys clearly left behind. The lights were shining in everyone’s faces and people started yelling at them and in response they mockingly did the obnoxious, teenage boy, fake laugh again that I’m positive they will one day look back on and regret. They finally left after presumably finding whatever the hell it was they were looking for, but it left me with one thought:

“Oh right. This is what Jason always talks about.”

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention that the printer at the ticket counter was not working so they couldn’t print my tickets after scanning the QR code from my phone. So they instead wrote a sticky note for me and informed the person collecting tickets about the situation. So they let us in and then about two hours into the movie I desperately needed to use the bathroom. So I walked out, used the restroom, and then when I tried to walk back in there was a new ticket collector and they wouldn’t let me back in because I realized my wife had the sticky note. So I showed them the QR code on my phone and explained the situation and the collector told me I had to go get them printed…which is what I just finished explaining to them about the printer being broken and all, but anyway. So I then had to go back in line, wait for people to buy popcorn, etc., walk up to the ticket counter, explain the situation again, and then they tried to scan my QR code and told me that the computer said I’d already had my QR code scanned so they couldn’t print them for me. I exasperatedly said yes, I know, and then explained it all again a third time so they wrote me another sticky note, explained the situation for a fourth time to the ticket collector, and then they finally let me back in. Because of all of that I completely missed the scene when they dropped the bomb in Japan and Oppenheimer hears about it over the radio and then does a conference about it, etc. which I was incredibly frustrated by.

So yeah, all in all not a great moviegoing experience and again I repeat:

“Oh right. This is what Jason always talks about.”

I didn’t see the glove but I’m now a glove truther

also loved all the bomb testing sequences, including the trinity test

the test that sends high velocity shrapnel and earth at their cover was laugh out loud funny

there was a guy sitting a couple seats down from me who was visibly irritated by the length of the movie’s final act and I was enjoying myself with both the movie and his constant fidgeting

I loved the film but thought the Trinity test explosion in Part 8 of Twin Peaks The Return was sooooooooooo much better. This one was just a little underwhelming after the hype.

Movies should be as long as they need to be, good directors know how to pace them whether it’s a 88 minute romantic comedy or An Elephant Sitting Still

    the explosion looked incredible

This is Nolan’s best film by several miles (I say as a credit to both his oeuvre and this movie, as someone who is hit or miss with Nolan historically)

I didn’t really pause to think about it until now (the movie makes you think about far heavier things, lol), but yeah, I think I’d have to call it his best, too.

I’m also one of these forums’ biggest Tenet fans. (Please, not another boring argument about that one!) So, after falling out of love with Nolan for a minute there, I feel like I’m in the bag for him again.
