Was pretty meh on Pikmin as I was learning the mechanics and everything, once i hit day 7 of the rescue mission it all clicked. What a unique experience this game is, very very fun.

 

I love Oatchi so much. He’s a good boy!

I consider myself a Pikmin veteran and I thought 4 felt overwhelming in the beginning with all the new characters, features, controls, etc... But after a handful of rescue mission days it all falls in place.

But the Pikmin series was the one that really made me understand how wired differently Miyamoto is as an innovator. Like, I don't even know what kind of game inspires this type of game because there's nothing else like it at all. I can't imagine how insane Miyamoto sounds when he's pitching his ideas to developers/colleagues/whoever.

 

Are the story of seasons games any good and if so, which would you recommend

 

If you liked the Harvest Moon series, definitely. They’re remakes of the HM games. A Wonderful Life is great, and so is Pioneers of Olive Town

 

Truly the best.

Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and Minish Cap. Hard to get a better lineup of games than that.

 

Yggdra Union got ported to Switch! Still one of my all time favorite GBA/PSP games.

My switch battery officially only lasts a half hour tops. Time for the pro to come out because I don’t want to buy another just to upgrade again later

 

Oof that sucks, I thought mine was pretty bad at like 2 hours of life

 

My fan is fucked and my console overheats after like 20 minutes of playing. I’m too lazy to fix it though, think I’ll just buy an OLED… eventually

 

my sister is a huge fan and she's very discerning when it comes to the genre. It's basically the (in)official sequel to Harvest Moon.

 

I get like 2-2.5 on my switch lite’s battery when playing big triple A games but all the retro console apps can run for over double that

tough. it's definitely not *effortlessly* backwards compatible as the Nvidia architecture they chose has a somewhat dissimilar command-set but it's also not out of the realm of possibility that it can be done with a somewhat simple translation layer (think a less advanced Proton).

My money is on yes, backwards compatible day one, just no performance improvement.
