Now that we’re a few months removed from the band ending, with practically zero fanfare, I’m just bummed. This band was SO great, how did they fizzle out in this way? To hit such a high peak with PFTW just to end it with the safest album of all time and an arena tour with empty upper decks and nothing special to commemorate nearly 20 years? Really really bums me out.

Didn’t most people here imply Brendan was ending the band due to the numerous internet claims of sexual assault/harassment/questionable hookup behavior that popped up?

Wasn’t there’s a transphobic or racist remark scandal there too?

He was definitely riding high from the success of PFTW and the Taylor Swift feature but everything went drastically downhill with the accusations and lack of quick follow up.

Wouldn't pin this on the accusations, as a majority of the fanbase probably hasn't dug that deep online. I imagine he was planning on taking a break for a while given the limited promotional campaign for their last record.

there’s no way this was “the safest album of all time,” wtf

The sexual harassment accusations were false. He didn’t take accountability for some of the remarks he made, even when they might have been taken out of context or blown out of proportion. There was also the implications that Dallon was treated poorly by him and Zack. Said nothing about Zack being an asshole to fans online either and remaining friends with him after he got fired (not that anyone expected a friendship to end but at least be discreet about it).

The online backlash and also the physical harassment he received from fans I’m sure burned him out.

Not defending him but didn’t a fan also break into his home or something wild too

Zach also harassed Dallon's wife IIRC

PFTW was a much safer record for Brendan to make than VLV.

I'd wager a good bet that he comes back for a 20th anniversary tour of AFYCSO in late 2025.

Would be an easy paycheck but he doesn’t seem to care very much for the two Ryan records so I’m not sure.

Considering he has only played one song from that record in the past 6-8 years and became wildly-arena popular on bigger albums and songs following that album, I’d say it’s extremely unlikely he ever does an AFYCSO tour.

What’s Ryan Ross up to these days? I still think it’s wild he pretty me vanished.

It’s not like he’s hurting for money to do an anniversary tour either. He could have cashed in on the emo nostalgia already if he wanted to.

Two years is a long time to burn through money without any new big way to bring money in the likes he is/was used to.

He won't be gone forever but if he's smart with his finances, he'll be fine in two years. He would have to be pretty desperate to do an anniversary tour for an album he couldn't care less about.

  22. He'll make ridiculous amounts of money for the rest of his life even if he never tours ever again. In 2019, he did $2.7 million in just streaming revenue (and another $2.4 million in publishing for the year).

I could see him coming back and dropping music as just Brendon Urie, although I'm not sure how that would be different from Panic at this point

I wouldn't be surprised if he did Broadway or something.

  25. Seems like the type. He can retire if he wants (off residuals and streaming income) and we'll be better off
