Genuinely tried with the Travis Scott album but couldnt get through the whole thing. Screamed hot garbage to me.

 

Tbf most of the trap rap stuff in the same style as him feels like that to me anyway, so him not really saying anything doesn’t really bother me haha

 

A lot of it yes but even a good amount of that has great and often incredible lyrical content that feels sincere/personal, regarding their relationship with drug use, violence in their communities, past traumas, etc.

 

skimming through the Travis Scott album out of curiosity. MODERN JAM sounds like the Walmart version of Yeezus. MY EYES is pretty cool but would enjoy it more if it wasn't for Travis's vocals haha. MELTDOWN is terrible. DELRESTO would be a pretty cool Beyonce/Justin Vernon collab but Travis again brings it down, he legit sounds like he is just aping Kanye "Coldest Winter" when he sings, then Kanye's flow when he raps... really feels like Kanye cosplay on this one.

on another note extremely stoked for this and any future woods/El-P collabs. such a wild combo

 

that By Storm track is really fucking fantastic. By the Time I Get to Phoenix is one of the most important albums of this decade to me and I just figured they would rightfully never follow it up, just having something even close to the same sonic and emotional space is hitting me hard
